Morbid question...

Morbid question...

Ok ladies I've got a tough one for you.

My fiance's 83 yr old grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given only a month to live. Meanwhile, I am in the process of preparing and sending out save the dates... Do I send one to grandma??

If it were anything else wedding related, I wouldn't hesitate. Shes proud and excited, and we want her to feel involved. I just can't help but feel morbid because of the nature of a 'Save the date'. I feel almost like I am rubbing it in her face that we will be having a big party a year from now but she won't be around.

When I asked his mother, she said absolutely send it to her. But this was a few months ago when the prognosis wasn't so heavy. Just wanted to see how you girls would handle the issue. :/

I would send a save the date to her. My grandparents are older and we just are going to wait to do ceremony programs and stuff like that in the off chance one of them might not be around this time next year. But definitely still send a save the date

Oh, certainly send a STD! If you get the opportunity, send her an invite also. She would want to see your invite even if she knows she probably wont be there. Try to involve her in as many things as possible. When you visit, tell her all about your planning and all about how exciting it is. Show her pictures of your dress and the BM dresses. Maybe of the reception hall. It will mean a lot to her to be involved while she is still here.
Very sorry you are going through this. I know its sad, but you can definitely cheer her up with knowing that her grandson will have a very happy life with a lovely girl, you!

DEF send her a save the date! My grandmother is sick too, and the wedding is all she can talk about. It is really giving her motivation to live each day. I'm sure a Save the date will brighten her spirits and make her feel involved during such a sad time.

Honestly, I would BRING it to her. This way you can manage the way its received. (Hey Gramma, you gotta fight this so you can be with us!)

This!
Also I'm sure as Brides we look way into these details, more than anyone else. I don't think she will see it as rubbing it in, but I do think she might be hurt if she finds out everyone else got them and not her.

I would absolutely send it. My grandma passed away last week from kidney and lung cancer- we all knew she wouldn't make it until October of next year because of how things were progressing but whenever I could I always talked to her about the wedding. I felt the same way you did but when we started talking it honestly made her happy and she loved feeling included.

I'm really sorry for her diagnosis. I hope you and your FH stay strong!
