I just met with J&R and was very impressed... However this my first visit to a florist... I usually like to compare vendors (at least 2-3).. Jack mentioned that he has one last opening for my date and that there is a good chance I could lose this last opening if I did not let him know by Tues... this does not give me much time to visit another florist... Can anyone tell me in general how does J&R compare to other florists? Price ranges (I have 1 MOH and 2 BM and approx 10-11 tables to cover)... also any opinions good/bad.. I feel very funny booking without any comparisons but I don't want to lose our date either...

i looked at several florists, burtons, james cress, pedestals, to name a few. jack and rose gave me the best price for what i wanted. burtons came in a close second.i have my design session soon. jack has been really great to work with so far. i can tell you more after my design session but it is next month. why dont you call a couple of places in the morning. can you see anyone monday afternoon or night? burtons fit us in pretty easily. i always think it is a good idea for a comparision.

Check out other florists!!!! If you lose the date...then it wasn't meant to be...there are many great florists out there. Do not be pressured into booking if you have not shopped around. Check out Flowers By Emil He is a vendor here....he was GREAT!

From the impression I get, Jack and Rose gets a lot of business, and he does book dates like crazy! There are only so many weddings a place can do in a day. I think that you probably have time to price out other florists, since it is highly unlikely that a place will book the same date within 3 days (unless of course he knows that someone is also looking to book the same date as you . . .) - I think any vendor wants business and will do what they can to make sure their customers don't lose an opportunity to book with them.

WOW sounds familiar, that is exactly what jack told me, word for word, including the tuesday part.. i would look around.. if he is understanding, then he will hold the date for you a couple more days.. AND not rush you..

Re: More help florist help--- Jack and Rose
I've heard he's pulled that # w/ a lot of bride's to be.
I recommend you call Flower Michele and speak to John- he's wonderful!!!
& b/c you asked for some feedback, good/bad.... I've heard J&R flowers to wilt by the end of your day.
My flowers, along w/ many others who didn't use Flower Michele, lasted almost 2 weeks. That's a healthy flower/arrangement. My dried bo-kt is still full of it's color.
Just some info. I've learned Not meant to start a war or insult anyone...

He told me the same thing. I knew something wasn't right. Vendors are not supposed to pressure you like he does. I went to Designer Florals and Flower Michele after I met with Jack and Rose and went with Flower Michele. Jack and Rose was the least amount of money but I was more concerned with quality and service.

Your wedding is pretty far off...I have called a lot of florists and some wont even MEET with me yet and I'm getting married 6 months before you...so I dont believe the tuesday part....just my opinion....Check the BBB with any florist you use and I suggest with any vendor you dont meet with just one....
Pressuring is a tactic I would personally run from...

Re: More help florist help--- Jack and Rose
I'm sure jack is a nice guy, but if you are going to tell brides the same exact story, knowing that they are on this web site.. BE A LITTLE MORE CAREFUL!! He was so patient with me when i was a potential client, but as soon, as I acted unsure and wanted to look somewhere else, it was a different story..
Upside: He does awesome work, and we haven't had a complaint about his services. but he rushed/lied to you..
honestly contact a couple more florists, if he really wanted your business then he'll wait, and i think it's rude to basically turn you away. it's like he's scared your going to find someonelse??!!! I'm just a little upset that he really told like 5 of us on here the same exact speal.. up to the day of the week
Good luck.. and I'm going to reccomend Laurie from La Blossom, and also Emil, these are the only two other florist I spoke to and they were SO NICE and patient, it looks like they do a wonderful job as well. Once you e-mail laurie/talk to her you will see. she truly has a passion for what she does, her work is beautiful, she's reasonably priced, and she becomes a friend quickly. I would trust her with my entire wedding..
GOOD LUCK Crystal

I've heard good things about Jack & Rose - but it sounds like 'used car salesman tactics'. Try Spitz & Peck (Richie at the Huntington location) or Florissima in Huntington for comparison. Good luck.

Re: More help florist help--- Jack and Rose
Regardless of Vendor, do NOT feel pressured into the sale. If you do and 'sign up' you may later regret it. Not because the work isnt good but because you'll always think ... 'If I had just looked around first' for me, there's nothing worse than that feeling.
We're talking 2005. I booked my florist late August of 2003 for an Oct 2004 wedding and he thought I was insane.
I say look around and I'd be honest with the Vendor and say 'I don't like this pressure you're pushing on me, it makes me feel uncomfortable.' A good vendor will back off. I said that to my gown shop. She backed off. When another woman walked over to put more pressure on, I walked out. Came back a week later with my decision.
YOU'RE THE BRIDE!!! IT'S YOUR WEDDING!
don't let any Vendor push you around.

Re: More help florist help--- Jack and Rose
I must be in the minority here when I say how much we loved Jack and Rose. We live in jersey and so I did alot of my seraching by phone..to drive into Long Island every weekend to visit florists was insane to us..so we screened florists by price and everything by phone. Soem vendors were AS$ holes over the phone..didnt want to take thri time withme, jack spent over an hour by phone just teling me what he could do for me. So we made the appt to see him, he was WONDERFUL. He may tell ya the date may book up, but there is a bit if truth to that, he is incredibly busy, his phone rings off the hook and people came in the entire time we were there asking questions, but if you felt rushed then thats not good either. Jack was great to work with, and the day of our delivery guy was right on time, our flowers were gorgeous and they definately didnt wilt by the end of the evening, no way..they were stunning!!! Also, I had comepletly forgot to order something for our sweetheart table, when Jack saw this, he surprised us and decoarted our table BEAUTIFULLY as his gift to us!!! He totally saved our day and our pictures would have looked like crap sitting at a table with no flowers! Jacks prices for us were cheaper by about 400 bucks from what other places quoated us at and we were very happy with our decision. I agree with checking around, but I know from alot of brides who have used him, he will beat other prices and quotes from other places. he will work with you! Good luck in whatever you decide!!!

I comepleteyl agreee with Xelyndria. I don't know anything about Jack & Rose, but I have heard that a out of vendors do that get your to book. I have heard his work is great, but so are a lot of other florists. I just booked mine last week & my wedding is in 4 months. Take your time, look around, and if you still like J &R, see if they have the date open, if not, have a 2nd florists in mind.
For the prices, it may depend on what types of flowers you are getting.
I have about the same amount of flowers & you & it will be about $1200 , but it is the in-house florist so there is a slight discount.
