More invitation questions...
They are just about done...WHEW!! Hope someone can help with a couple of questions.New in-laws in the family are a senator and his wife. Is it correct to address the envelope 'The Honorable and Mrs. John Doe'? How about the inner envelope? Senator and Mrs. Doe??
We are a couple of widowed and divorced women to the reception. Do we invite them with guests? Two of the widowed ladies lost their husbands many, many years ago. I don't think either has a significant other. Also of a concern is the recently widowed friend who lost her husband less than two years ago. 'And guest' just seems...insensitive.
Would appreciate any advice! Thanks, ladies

Re: More invitation questions...
Can't hep you with the first one.As far as the widows, there was a post recently about this. I did not invite my widows (I had a bunch - FMIL neighbors) with a guest. I felt uncomfortable doing it but my FMIL ensured that is the way they would prefer to have it. Inviting them with guest would be worse.
In the prevoius post, someone did mention that some older people will be insulted when they are not invited with guests. Maybe a family member can guage their reaction.
If it were me I would invite them & Guest to be safe.
