more office mate issues ...

more office mate issues ...

Earlier this week I had written a 'dear guy who shares office space with me' letter .... He is now listening to howard stern really loudly and every other word is that horrible p***y word. I know a lot of people like stern, but I cannot stand him and I hate people who always talk about women's parts in a degrading manner like him. UGH. I know that if I ask him to turn it down or close his doors, he will give me an attitude from now until next christmas. And I need to install a program on a different computer so I cannot put earphones on, and I don't have my ipod!!!!!!

that kind of stinks not only is it distracting to you but it is also offensive- why not casually mention it to HR (not certain what type of place you work for) but have them address the issue- it could be more of a general complaint if they address it

Why don't you ask him to please please lower it or ask him to wear headphones

I think listen to Howard Stern is very inappropriate at work considering the language. If it is really distracting you should tell HR or your boss. Your company can be sued if they do not comply.

Boss is away on vacation. We only have threee people in the office - boss and I work for a different company that is currently building office space for us, so we rent space from this other guy. So can't complain to HR.

I am done installing the program so now I am back at my desk, with headphones on, listening to my music. AHHHHH peace.

And I had to ask him to help me install it .... hated to do it since he really is being such a nasty person ... I do not know how to use a mac, and I had to insert a cd ... had no idea how to do it! There is a button on the keyboard apparently. He just came over, pressed it and walked away, didn't say a word even when I asked very nicely and said thank you. NADA.

What a friggin JERK. I'd like to call him more but I would get kicked off LIW.

I would compile a list of things he does and give it to your boss.

I am a huge fan of stern and I think that is very inappropriate to listen to it at the work place. I mean if he loves stern that much and can't miss it it's on replay a bunch of times a day and he won't miss out on anything. I really think it's rude and I know most offices wouldn't tolerate it. Corporations spend lots of money on sensitivity classes and I would say it's because of people like him

Wish I could - but they've worked together for years. I don't want to 'tell' on the guy ... I'll just use my headphones from now on. I don't think he would have them this loud if the boss was here. Thing is, he's a vendor of ours ... we are a prod. co. and he is an editor ... but he happens to rent the office space and we rent some space from him. Weird set up but convenient most of the time, and it wasn't bad until about 2 weeks ago when he started getting nasty. I think it might stem from the fact that about that time, he had stern on and I said, 'jezz, could we get any more vile at 9 in the morning?' and he then closed his doors immediately, like he might have been pissed that I complained about stern. because it's technically his place and we rent from him. But I don't think that means I should have to hear c**t, p***y and d**k every 4 seconds. Have a little respect for the ONLY WOMAN here.

I know -- it's just that he is not employed by us, and my little co. is part of a larger co. that is still building space for us ... so I really have nothing to do. If it continues and I cannot have headphones on, I will tell my boss that I don't like to hear him so much, and maybe he will talk to the guy ....
