so we have a bit of oot guest coming but we are getting a block of hotel rooms for anyone that doesn't want to drive home since MG is pretty far east. Do i need to make baskets for the rooms?
and the 2nd ? Is it customary for bride and groom to pay for the BP rooms? (since they are all staying to continue the party)

I am doing OOT boxes for my OOT guests as a courtesy for them traveling. I will go to BJ's and get inexpensive snaks to put in the box. As far as paying for the BP rooms that can be $$$$ unless you have a samll BP. Normally, I would not think it was customary unless you having a 'Platinum Wedding' lol...

well thats the thing we dont have the $$$ to splurge so i was hoping that that was a NO!!
and i was thinking the same as u are going to BJs or Costco and getting like the jumbo size and putting it in their hotel rooms.

Hey Megan.... More than half of my guests are OOT (FH and his whole family, and there are a LOT of them are from upstate, near Albany). So we'll obviously be blocking off rooms with a discounted rate for them (make sure you find a hotel that will give your guests a discounted rate. And, I don't know if MG has a HM suite for you the night of the wedding, but if they don't find out if the hotel where you're blocking off rooms will give you a HM suite for free if your guests fill a certain # of rooms... make sense?) I'll be making OOT bags for my guests. It's something I want to do and I'll probably make it Long Island themed since so many of the guests aren't from or have never been to LI.

We are going to have probably about 5-10 rooms for out of town guests...we are going to do the out of town bags...we went to a wedding once in new jersey and they did that and we thought it was the nicest touch...didnt expect it and it made us feel so nice and special...you dont have to spend alot of money to make them...buy the food on sale hope this helps

we have about 20 OOT guests and we will be blocking rooms for them, I was planning on making them OOT bags because my wedding is on a friday night so many of them will be staying the weekend, I would say def NO about paying for your bridal parties room, unless you find extra room in your budget...but I know in mine i am making room as it is..lol

almost all of my Fh's family is oot. So we definately liked a summer/beachy/long island themed bags. As far as the rooms..You don't need to pay for them, the guests should. BUt be sure to put them up in a reasonably priced place

IMO baskets are not a necessity....if i can i will make up OOT bags for everyone...but if i can't afford it...or there are too many...i may not...so no you don't have to
If you want to do something small for people that live on the island but will stay you could always do a lil hang over type thing with advil, gatorade, granola bars etc.
And I do not think it is customary for the bride and groom to pay for BP rooms....if you want to get one room for whomever to crash in that can't afford a room i have heard of that...but nothing else!!
