I was fortunate enough to not have any m/s when I was pg with Luke but not this time around it seems. Yesterday all I could keep down was a Jolly Rancher Apple candy!! I was so hungry but so turned off by food at the same time. Today seems a little better but I have yet to eat anything. I was feeding Luke this morning and his banana made me wretch. He was cracking up at the sound of me wretching. Thanks kid!
Truthfully, I figured maybe people are either predisposed to m/s or not but apparently not.
Anyone have any tips on what worked when they were nauseous.
PS Last week I could not get enough of eating meat. This week, I cant even look at it!

Re: Morning Sickness
Wow, Liz! I am so interested in the differences you are experiencing...thanks for sharing (as unpleasant as you feel), I am seriously wondering if this means you are having a little, or if it's just the differences that occur from one pregnancy to the next.
I'm sorry the m/s is so bad...have you tried the motion sickness wrist bands? I practically lived with them on 24/7 when I was in early pregnancy with Paul. They helped a little bit...but, didn't make it go away completely.
I hope the m/s passes soon! I don't want you to feel so sick for the holidays!

Re: Morning Sickness
I second the Sea Bands! Also, my Dr. told me to take 25 mg of B6 and 1/2 a unisom tablet twice a day. Works for me. I still have some bouts, but it isn't daily.
How many weeks are you? I thought you were way ahead of me. I am 9 weeks.

Re: Morning Sickness
My only experience with M/S was from weeks 8-11 and then it magically disappeared. It never made me terribly sick though, just nauseous and even though the last thing I felt like doing was eating, it was the only thing that made me feel better. Everyone said to carry Saltines with me, but i didn't cause I didn't want to just snack for no reason and honestly didn't see how they would make me feel better. The sick feeling usually showed up whenever it was time to eat a meal anyway so thats what I did. And it would subside.
Now I have gagging fits. Not from queasiness but from silly things like brushing my teeth, or if in the shower and I *think* I ay have gotten soapy water in my mouth... look out!
Hopefully it'll pass- Feel better!

Re: Morning Sickness
I had MS almost the entire pregnancy, with the first 6 months the worst. The only thng that kind of worked was chewing strong peppermint gum. Like Dentene Ice. Also strong cinnamon worked too, so I would su*k on atomic fire balls. Feel better.

Re: Morning Sickness
Have you tried just toast?
I never knew what I wanted to eat when I was pregnant. I just knew what food was NOT going near me! Drink alot of water. It will ease the hunger a bit. I tried a ice cream soda one time (ONE time) thinking that would help me have something in me belly. (works on hangovers) Did NOT work on m/s!! Find something you know you can eat & stick w/ that. Good Luck & Feel Better!!!!!!!!

Re: Morning Sickness
I am going into my 18th week and still have MS! The only thing that seems to help a bit is pasta. I have tried all the remedies out there but they are only temporary solutions, couldn't bare to do them again. I never got sick on Pasta and the pepermint gum helped as well. The gum breaks up the acid while you accumulate saliva or you can try lollipops.
I know it's not fun... as I wish this was over myself! Feel better and hang in there

Re: Morning Sickness
carbs, carbs, and more carbs! That's the only thing that helped with me. During my 1st tri I craved baked potatoes, pasta with butter and salt and mac and cheese.

Re: Morning Sickness
There were several things I ate while I had morning sickness my first trimester (and was I sick!!!!!!!!!!). I had tons of fat free Saltines. I always had Jolly Rancher sucking candies - that seemed to help quash the nausea somewhat. I also found that, and don't think I'm crazy, but Campbells Chicken Noodle Soup was about the only thing that I ate. It went down easily, tasted good, and stayed down. Plus the salt in it tasted wonderful. Try it.

Re: Morning Sickness
I'm in week 12 and I'm still sick as a dog. Nothing really works - sea bands - naaaahhh! Peppermints, sort of. It's the worst. They diagnosed me with hyperemesis and put me on Zofran which still doesn't help. I'm at my wits end!!

Re: Morning Sickness
Thank you all for the advice everyone. I will keep every suggestion in mind.
Kate - you are so right! The thought of eating is unthinkable but it does help it subside.
Kris - I am 8 weeks pg
Lisalou - yep, the pasta seems to help. The day after I first posted this, that was all I was able to stomach.
Kathi - this one's going to be another surprise as far as the gender. Its one of the few real surprises left in life.
Shamee - You poor thing! I've been feeling it on and off, I wouldnt classify it as sick as a dog so I really feel for you. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: Morning Sickness
Elizabeth, wow, for some reason I thought you were farther along than I was. Week 8 was when I started to feel a little better, and I am now in week 9. Well, the nausea has passed a little, now I am battling heartburn at night. I still have some gagging fits, but not NEARLY as much as I was in week 6 and 7.
Good luck to you. I hope you feel better soon! I am glad I will have a partner in crime in July.
We are also going to wait to find out the sex. You are right, there are few surprises left in life. That, I think, will only add to the joy of giving birth.
