Morning Sickness is killing me

Original post by DaniRN

I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones without it until week 6 hit last week and now I am nauseaus from the minute I wake up till I go to sleep-saltines don't even help. I am able to keep food down past 2pm but am still nauseaus but I force myself to keep it down so I can get my nutrients.
Please btdt moms offer me some remedies!!!!!!

Re: Morning Sickness is killing me

Dani, I went through the same exact thing- 5 1.5 months of it. I am finally in the clear (now being 6 months!). Nothing helped for me either. I tried the gum, eating smaller meals a day, saltines at night (made me sicker), preggo pops even meds. NOTHING helped, except knowing this wouldn't last forever. Each month it definetly subsided and the last 2 months was just getting sick in the morning. I went on the meds. because my throat was completely torn from vomitting so much (I was bleading while throwing up).

I do have to say what eased the torment for me: Fruit, Pasta and spearmint/peppermint gum and of course sleep.

I know this is hard to hear, but hang in there... it won't last forever.

Oh Dani, how I feel your pain!! That was me until I was almost 6 months pregnant!! I had it ALL DAY long, never threw up, but that feeling like I was going to any minute. I ate saltines, bagels, pretzels (any carbs) and it helped a bit. The all day went away around month 4, but I had it every morning until I was almost 6 months. Peppermint Patties also helped (if I was shopping in Target and the feeling came over me, I would go get one and eat it as I shopped)!!!

Hope you're feeling better!!!

My SIL said that ginger and pineapple helped her.

Oh Dani - I know how you feel!!! I am in the same boat right now and it really stinks. I keep telling myself 4 more weeks, 3 more weeks (with the hope that it will end at the end of my first trimester). But it is really tough going! Hang in there!

Re: Morning Sickness is killing me

I feel your pain! I was so nauseous that because of my lack of eating and my throwing up, I lost 10 pounds during the first trimester. And, yes, it hit me right at the 6 week mark. Don't worry - it's a GOOD sign!!! The doctor kept telling me that it was a great sign of a HEALTHY baby, because it's your hormones that are making you sick! So, don't worry!

But that doesn't make you feel any better - what worked for me was eating a few saltines every hour. Also, always having Jolly Rancher sucking candies around, and, sometimes, the ONLY thing I could eat for dinner was Campbells Chicken Noodle soup - it was so good - gave me the salt I needed and the nutrients that were necessary. Plus, it was gentle enough to stay down.

Good luck, sweetie!!!

Dani so sorry you are going through this. You and I are very close in our pregnancy timetable and so far I have no MS. (I know its sounds crazy but sometimes I worry b/c I don't have it).

Anyway my MIL recommends keeping saltines or some bread on your nightstand. When you get up in the morning (before you even elevate your head) eat a piece and stay in bed for 5 minutes. She claims it works. I hope it passes quickly!!!!

Re: Morning Sickness is killing me

I dont have any 'tried and true' advice but I wanted to offer my sympathy. I am on my 6th day of no m/s after having it for 3 months straight - Im hoping it's gone for good *fingers crossed*. Someone here told me that even though you dont want to eat, alot of times it's the only thing that helps. It is definitely true but even so I couldnt always keep stuff down so I had to keep a pretty bland diet for awhile, just so it wasnt so horrid coming back up.

Hang in there!!

Hang in there - I hope it passes soon enough
