Mother at Bach. Party?

So we are going to plan a day/night in AC. My mother wants to come.....she can get us like 3 free rooms at 3 different hotels...She wouldnt come out to the clubs/bars w/us at night, i guess just hang w/us during the day and dinner. If she goes, i have to ask my MIL to go too!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt picture this at all, and my friends of course will be going too, but i dont know, there is only so much of her i take.......you know she's a MOM!!!!!!!!!! My sister is laying the guilt trip on me about how the rooms are expensive and it will be good if she comes, but i honestly dont want to have to worry about my mother all weekend! I love her and all but bach. parties are not for mothers! UGH! WOULD YOU take your mother?

Ugh-tough decision. Are she and MIL friendly? Could they pal around in the evening? Could they share one room and you and the girls share the others? Then it might be cool. I just know I wouldn't want to be crazy drunk around my mom or MIL. If you could still enjoy the day with them, but separate the wild and crazy night events, it might be okay. On the other hand, some people have mom's they can hang out with like that-I'm not one of them though.

My mom came to my bach party, but it wasn't overnight or out of town. My sister invited her and she asked if I was okay with that and how could I say no? We did a bar crawl/scavanger hunt - she was on my team and we had a really good time. She left early and left us to do as we wished, but she was really happy to be a part of it and it was nice to have her there. She also provided the penis straws.

Thanks, she is friendly w/FMIL. Dont know if FMIL would go though.....maybe.
I just want to boogie w/my girls and i guess i would be ok with her if she stayed glued to the slots all day, while i get drunk playing blackjack...........after the spa treatment :)

If it was my mom, I wouldnt have to worry, she would be glued to the slots. My mom and i have the kind of relationship where she has seen me completely drunk. For my brothers wedding, I couldnt even got all the pins out of my hair so she had to help
As far as FMIL, I think that is a different story

Re: Mother at Bach. Party?

Okay... so first... I'm Denise and I'm getting married in September 2006!!!

Now... I am planning my b-party to be on Fire Island. We will dock our boat at Atlantique for the weekend and my mom will also be there with her boat. That way whoever wants to stay over night or a few nights can be split up between the two boats.

My take on the b-party may be different. I'm 32.. I have two married sisters and a sis in law... all with two boys each. So... the party hardy whoop it up b-party is not really what I'm going for. I'm just looking for some peaceful days on the beach, with cocktails flowing from noon on, dinner out planned for each night wherever the water taxi takes us and find a bar with live music to get a little silly. A little sunset yoga one night (having a yogi come!), wine and cheese and beer and pretzels and good girl talk! And that involves my mom. We have a great time together and I enjoy her life experience and advice. She's also a big girl and if she does not want to stay at the bar all night, she can get back to the boats fine. And I suppose I'll pass an invite to FMIL. She might just come for one dinner and take the ferry home.

I think the same may apply for your mom. She's a big girl... she knows if she wants to party all night with the youngens or hang in the room with a good book and be there when you get back. It sounds like your mom has to offer a lot for this trip and it may end up being more than the rooms. Moms are cool! They buy us cute presents and treat us to dinner or massages! Same goes for your FMIL... invite her and if she thinks she can hang with the group... then let her have a go at it! You should not worry about entertaining her or making her feel comfortable. You party your arse off because it's your b-party and let them fend for themselves! I'm sure they will not go into it with expectations of watercress sandwiches and seaweed wraps in AC! And if they do... serves them right for what happens in AC, stays in AC!!!

My mom also wants to come to my bach party. She is cool though so i really wouldnt mind. I know other people were like she shouldn't come, blah blah, but if she wants to thats fine wiith me. My FMIL and my step-mom both said they were too old and didnt want to come (although FMIL was considering if we went to AC cause she loves to gamble and she said she wouldnt bother us, just stick to the slots and joker poker hehe). But my mom is still young at heart and likes have a good time. Who knows maybe she'll choose not to after all.

My mom is not really 'cool'. She likes to have fun, but yeah i think i would have to worry about babysitting her

My Mom came with my friends and I to South Beach. We spent a lot of time during the day, laying out, shopping and enjoying some drinks.

She would come to dinner with us at night then head back early when it got too late. As others have mentioned, she's a big girl, she knows when to leave.

She had a great time and it was nice having her around with everyone.

You know your Mom best, only you know how she'll be in certain situations.

I wouldn't mind my mom coming, but she told me she didn't want to because she felt that we wouldn't be able to act the same as we would if she wasn't there.

that is what I said. Two of my BMs were SHOCKED that I didn't want to invite my mom - but honestly that would just be weird.

I would have loved having my mom at my bach. party. I mean opening some of my presents in front of her would have been a little uncomfortable but for the most part it ws pretty tame. My sister invited my Aunt and she came, she is older, but she had a good time.

Here is one for you, we were out with (future family in law)? and my bach party came up. I am totally not into a stripper BLAH! FMIL says that she wants a stripper there for herself, gross! Who said she was invited anyway!

I think it really depends on how close you are to your mother. I threw a Bachellorette party for my sister and my mom came to everything...including the strip club..... In all honesty, it wasn't embarassing or awkward at all.. My mom is one of my best friends. The only thing I made sure of was that she had a 'friend' to hang out with. My sister's MIL did not end up going but one of my mom's good friends came with us so she wasn't by herself. I think you should extend the courtesy... (especially if she is paying for some of the wedding???) but maybe see if one of her friends can DEFINITELY come before you go forward with it...

I feel the same way, I love my mom, but I don't want her at my bachelorette party. I just don't think she would have fun.
