mother in law

Ladies, Hear me out

Ok I am a plus size female but I love me some me. So FH mother is always asking him how am I doing in general and how am I doing with my diet and my weight? So she asked him this 'Has Latoya ever thought about getting her stomach stapled or tummy tucked'?.....So FH confronted her about that comment and told her he luvs me just the way I am. So I asked my mom if the comment was being concened about me or a pure insult and she think she is concerned but I think its an insult. I am tryin to lose weight but I am losing for me and no one else.

I don't know your MIL, so I don't want to make a quick judgement, but it sounds like she was being really insensitive with her comments. She might be concerned, but there are certain things you should keep to yourself. I think its great that you are happy with who you are and that FH loves you exactly how you are. That is how it is supposed to be! I think you should be how you want to be, and not listen to what other people think, because in the end, you and FH are all that matters!

I think it depends on your relationship to her. Are you close? or not so much?

And did she say it because she wants you to look different? or b/c of health issues???

I still think it was a little rude....glad your FH stepped in to defend you

I agree, unless you guys are really close it's stepping over her bounds a bit - I wouldn't read too much into it bcause you may get yourself overworked about it. Just do what you've been doing and focus on doing what's best for you and you will be happy.

It sounds to me as if it was a concern, but it depends on your relationship with her. I was heavy most of my life, in fact, this time last year, I was seventy pounds heavier than I am right now. My own mom, who is this tall thin former model, made comments to me about it forever, but it wasn't until I was good and ready that it actually happened for me.

Its sounds to me that your mother in law has her heart in the right place, but your weight it your concern. She sounds like she loves you, try not to get too angry with her... think about what that may do to FH.

I have been there with my fmil but I have gotten 'wow your face used to be beautiful now you have acne what happened'

We went to target and she went right to the face creams, washes section and said have you ever thought about buying some of this stuff for your acne!

I said OF COURSE what do you think I dont notice.

In her case it was in sensitive she said it about 3 times in one day. Luckily she lives in Greece

it dep. on the relationship between the too. but i just think she is wrong for saying that. She should love you for who you are not what you look like.

some people are just clueless about how hurtful their 'helpful advice' can be, especially when it crosses boundaries or is delivered insensitively.

sorry just relish in the fact that your fh loves you unconditionally. that's rare & special

It is hard to say because she could be looking out for you but at the same time she could be insulting you...hopefully she is just concerned. But I think that no matter how she meant it that if you took it as an insult then it just isn't right.
You're beautiful the way you are!!!
