Re: MOTHER-IN LAW TO BE??
I think that most parents want to be with their children the night before they get married. My FH is going to stay with his mom and dad (I think) and I am going to be staying at the hotel that my parents are staying at (they are coming from out of town). I dont think that I would have it any other way.

Is there anyone else she could stay with before the wedding? Besides the hotel

Re: MOTHER-IN LAW TO BE??
A hotel is cold. My FH is going home to stay with his Mom the night before the wedding and I am traveling to the location to stay at the Hotel with my Mom and family.
If you choose to change your mind be very careful how you phrase it. You want her to feel welcome, and not like you feel bad and changed your mind.
good luck

Re: MOTHER-IN LAW TO BE??
If FH is staying at the hotel then so should his mother. I thought you orginally said that he was staying at your house. In that case....yes, I think she should stay where her son is staying.

Re: MOTHER-IN LAW TO BE??
My mom preferred to stay at a hotel, and FH's parents are local. So, I might share my mom's room with her at the hotel, or just meet up with everyone early that morning. Hasn't been worked out yet. We only have a one bedroom co-op, so it wouldn't be ideal for anyone to stay over the night before our wedding. If I had a house I would have asked my mom to stay. Though I would't want FH's mom to stay over because she would bring the drama lama! So it depends on your situation! Whatever would keep YOUR stress level down!

Re: MOTHER-IN LAW TO BE??
if fh is staying at the hotel, then its not so bad that she stays there.
But if hes staying with you, it might not be a bad idea to have her stay with you also...an extra person to take care of the kids, ya know.

She should stay with her son...thats what I believe...wouldn't she want to? Are they close?
Are you the only woman around (no sisters or daughters? etc) that she might want to be with the women that night?>

Re: MOTHER-IN LAW TO BE??
THANKS GIRLS!!! you know what it is, i have a 5 and 3 year old to take care of too, i want it just to be the 3 of us!! my fh is staying at the hotel, all i am asking is that one night!! then she can stay at our house, and also it's not like we have 5 bedrooms, we only have 3 and they are all taken, by me and the girls, so her and her husband (my fh stepdad) would be staying all over the house in pull out beds andi have to wak up early, get the girls ready and have their hair, my hair and makeup done, if she wants to come over in the morning to help me AFTER she gets ready at the hotel, i have no problem with that!! my fh is i think ok with this, but he says, 'it's whatever i want for that night', i mean he's not even staying in his own house!! and to bring all my stuff and my girls things to my parents house is too much, we live here!! and i have to take care of my english bulldog too!!

i understand your point.. but think of it this way.. how would you feel if one day your child's soon to husband turned around asked you and your DH to spend the night at a hotel b/c it would be easier for all.. jmo..
it's a tough call.. my house will be filled with people atleast a week or so before the wedding.. and FH and I live w/ our parents and he will be spending the night w/ his parents either at their home or at the hotel and all my family will be at the hotel...

Re: MOTHER-IN LAW TO BE??
see i wouldn't want to put my daughter out like that! and it's not like she's my mom, my fh and her arent even that close! and i don't even think my family would ask to stay w/ us if they were out of state!! they know what a big inconveniance that would be the night before the wedding, especially that there are kids here too!!

Yeah, but wouldn't a parent want to get ready with their son. I LOVE my FMIL & she is like a mom already, I am getting ready at a hotel, & she is getting ready with her son. & basically where ever her son would be that day she would be there helping him!
You can always tell them you want the pictures of them helping FH getting ready, so it would be better if they are close to him. (which people like to have anyway right!?)

Re: MOTHER-IN LAW TO BE??
I think it's perfectly fine that you asked her to stay at a hotel. My FIL's are staying at a hotel the night before the wedding, they are coming in from Pittsburgh and will be in town for a few days. Our house will be way too hectic the morning of, no OOT guests are allowed to stay at the house.
