Mother In Laws

What is about In Laws?
I keep asking my future mother in law if she has thought about what type or color dress she wants. I offered to go looking with her. She keeps telling me that she is not ready to look or buy anything. The wedding is in 4 months....when the hell is she going to be ready. My Fiance keeps telling me that she does everything last minute..its just her way.
I thought maybe she planned on buying somehting off the rack...she said no.
They don't seem to understand that the dress needs to be ordered...and it takes time to come in.

I'm also nervous that my FMIL will pick to wear...she doesn't take alot of pride in her apperance....thats why I want to go with her.

My FMIL found her's before my mom did I was a little peeved, but luckily, my mom didn't like the color of FMIL's dress, so there was no way they would wear the same color lol

My FMIL and Future Grandmother in law got their dresses before my mom too. Actually, the only one who was pissed was my FMIL because grandma went before everyone.
But anyway, 3-4 mos should be ok, hopefully they can rush the order. For my Brothers wedding, my mom got her dress 3 mos. before.

Not to worry, as long as your dress and the BM's dresses are ordered. Remember, everyone will be looking at you, not your FMIL.

GOOD LUCK

Does she even have to order a dress? My mom will be picking hers out at a store..

I wouldn't worry about it. Also remember..buying a dress can be a very personal thing. She may not feel ready to buy or have anyone go with her. My own mom is like that...i am just sitting back and letting her pick a dress when the time is right. My mom is the last thing that worries me!!

Oh wow, my FMIL is the same way!!! She probably won't buy her dress until a week before!! And I wanted to get the moms something that coordinates with their dress, but cannot order it because I have no clue what color to get her!!! And whenever I ask her for her list of names & addresses, she thinks I am nuts & am doing this too early!!!

Maybe you should jsut get her a nuetral color--like white or something so that you can get something done & not worry about what color she is wearing. I can't complain about FMIL b/c she is going the end of the month to start looking--it is my mother who is being the pain. She has been trying on dresses since August of '04 and still hasn't picked a dress yet. She keeps saying that she is going to pick one this week but alright already at least she has narrowed it down. I was starting to get worried.

You should tell your FMIL that really it takes about 3-4s for the dress to come in unless they have it in stock but it may limit her if she waits too long. JMO but she shoudl order it soon.

I also wanted to get my FMIL, Mom and Bridemaids slippers to match their gowns....to wear at the reception....but I think I just might get FMIL something Nuetral or nothing at all. If I don't know what she is wearing by the time I purchase the slippers than I might just skip buying her the slippers.

However I think that I am going to tell her that I am meeting with the florist 1 month prior to the wedding to choose the final colors and flowers....so I need to know what she is wearing so that I can choose her coursage....maybe that will get her BUTT in montion.

Re: Mother In Laws

I was worried about my future mother in law as well, but she and ffil came down to LI one weekend, late in February and got a dress, off the rack at Nordstrom that doesn't need a nip, tuck or even a hem! That was a HUGE relief for me...I thought for sure she was going to have to order one because she's a womens' petite, but like I said, she was able to get one off the rack. Your mother in laws won't show up to your wedding naked, so stay positive!

Let her worry aboutt the dress - you so don't need one more thing to stress about! She'll come up with something. It's 2 months until my wedding, and neither my mom or my FMIL has a dress. I know they are not going to show up naked, and I also know they have good taste and will find something pretty. Some people really do do better last minute...

same problem i have. It feels like it's extremely hard to find petite size dresses that is what is taking us so long.

I really don;t care what my FMIL wears. We don't deal with eachother.. Hi * bye. We really don't have to cross paths...

Why does anyone care what their Future mother in law wears.. ??? I jus care what my Mother wears.

I love my FMIL...but she doesn't have good taste. So I'm a little worried on what my pictures are going to look like.
