Mother of the Bride...

My mother is quite overweight. We need to begin looking for a dress for her. Can anyone recommend any places that might carry larger size samples so that she can actually try on dresses?

We're in Brooklyn, but can travel to LI (preferably somewhere in Nassau since Suffolk is a bit of a hike).

My mom got her gown at Doris Fashion on 18th Avenue and MIL got hers at Queen of Hearts in Merrick.

This a picture of the dress, my mom ordered this dress in a the blue (like a wedgewood blue) - there were like 5-6 colors to choose from. Also, nylisa's mom ordered this one too, I believe it was a purple color.

We just ordered my moms dress at After 5 salon in Massapequa on Broadway. THey are affiliated with bridal Reflections. The people were really nice, and I believe they had dresses for all sizes.

My mother is overweight as well. She prefers to haver her dresses custom-made. This time around she may not. I plan on suggesting the plus size department at Bloomingdales (Manhattan) and Nordstrom.
