Mother of the Bride
Has anyone heard of the mother of the bride changing her dress between the ceremony and reception? I personally think that it is over-doing it a little, I just wanted some other opinions. Thanks!

I haven't heard of anyone doing this but these days anything is possible, in fact I've heard of BRIDES changing dresses between the ceremony and reception!!! (like I could afford that!)
But maybe your mom wants to be more formal at the ceremony and then get a bit more dressy for the reception...whatever make her happy.
My mom bought a spaghetti-strap dress wih some beading that comes with a short matching jacket over it- she will wear the jacket in church and remove it for the reception. To me, it is two different looks. Maybe this will work for you.
Ive seen some guests change btwn ceremony and reception...no big deal...if thats what she wants to do
At my sister's wedding, my Mom wore a low-key, elegant silk suit for the ceremony and changed into a much more elaborate sparkly/beaded dress for the reception. (Basically she bought the suit first because she was running short of time, then found the beaded dress and loved it...)
There was about 3 or 4 hours between my sister's ceremony & reception - so it wasn't a big deal. If there were only a few minutes between both events however, the 'quick-change artist' thing might have been a litle disconcerting -- but nothing too outrageous or inappropriate. ( read a posting once from some poor girl who's stepmother planned to wear a white dress & tiara --> now THAT would be outrageous & innapropriate).
I thought my mom looked great at both events -- even so it definitely is not required for MOB to get two outfits, if she wants two different looks let her go for it. Although the wedding is the brides day first & groom's day second -- whether they like it or not :) -- in a lot of ways, you might say it's the Moms' day 3rd.
