Is it okay if the mother of the bride wears a champagne color dress or is that too close to the bride's dress?

Re: Mother of the Bride question - help!
when my sister got married her colors were brown (so is mine) so my mom wore a cream/light brown dress. it looked nice. i told the moms they can wear anything in the brown family.

I think that's fine - unless the Bride's dress is off-white maybe.
My mom wore a light taupe color and it looked fine:

Re: Mother of the Bride question - help!
what ever you want, it's your wedding!
Moms frequently say it's not appropriate to wear ivory, white, or black (I have never heard a complaint against champagne), but I've seen several posts by brides saying that they don't mind if moms wear these colors....
Champagne is really not that close to ivory, so I expect even traditionalists would not mind.... besides, I think it complements ivory wonderfully!

I think it is perfectly fine...I am even picking champagne/taupe for bm dresses...And like the pp said, its not that close in color...You can get a taupe because its a little bit darker if you want. As long as the bride is fine with it then it really doesn't matter.
