Mother Poem Ideas

Happy Wednesday! My Fi and I want to get his mother one of those blankets at Things Remembered where you can have something sewn on them. We are trying to find a really nice (shorter than longer) poem about Mothers. Does anyone know of anything really nice or maybe have a different idea of what to put on the blanket?? Thanks so much!

Mother Poem Ideas- one more comment

most of the poems we are finding seem geared more like from a child to their mother- we are trying to find something that sounds loike it is coming from both of us. my MIL is the type to recieve this gift and thank my fi and leave me out (she is having a hard time remembering that it's 'us' now and not just him). we want to try and make it obvious that it is from both of us!!! thanks-

How about one that is from You

I came across this a while back. I dont know if it will fit your needs and I dont know the author but here it is. You are the mother I receive the day I wed your son And I just want to thank you, Mom For the things that you have done You've given me a gracious man with whom I share my life You are his lovely mother And I his lucky wife You used to pat his little head and now I hold his hand You raised in love a little boy and gave to me a loving man.

What we did (LONG)

We did poems for both Mom's-- We gave my MIL the one that Fran posted and then I couldnt find an appopriate one for my Mom (my Dad died when I was younger and I couldnt find one that fit) so I wrote this one (with help from other poems that I found) To Mom on My Wedding Day This is the day I walk down the aisle and into the heart of the man I love. But before I do that I want to be sure you are aware of all that you have given to me. You have taught me how to give of myself and the true meaning of unconditional love. You’ve watched me strive and achieve with so much pride and silent prayer. I've realized as I get older, that you're not only my mother, but you are also my friend. So much of what I have become is because of you and I want you to know that I appreciate you and love you more than words can express. Love your daughter, Laura April 28, 2001

I did something similar (LONG)

My Mom is my best friend, and she also gave me away. I gave her a hankerchief with this poem: Mom, Long ago when I was small And everything was new, I hoped and dreamed when I grew up That I’d be just like you. Through the years, you’ve helped me grow With love and strength to spare. Your guidance means so much to me That nothing could compare. As you hold this hanky While I am walking down the aisle, My eyes will meet with yours And we’ll share a knowing smile. For though we’re very different In oh so many ways, The part of me that is just like you Will help me find my way. Thanks Mom. The poem is from WeddingHankies.com. I didn't order from them, but I found the exact same hanky and poem at the store where I ordered my favors (Crystal International Gifts in Massapequa). I also honored my Mom by sharing a special dance with her at our wedding.
