my Mom can NOT find a dress that she likes anywhere :( and I'm getting sad for her... She's looking for a nice 2 piece... Where did your Mother's all go for their dresses?

Re: Mother's Dress
have you tried even looking at BM dresses? I know that the few dresses my mom has found that she likes are classified as Bridesmaid Dresses instead of MOB dresses. She says the MOB dresses look to 'matronly'... umm helo your matron, get over it! LOL

Re: Mother's Dress
I'd go to Lord & Taylor or Macy's or something. I can't stand the MOB dresses they try to make them wear. My mom is too young for those.

Re: Mother's Dress
We went to Bridal Elegance in Dix Hils. They were very nice there, ask for Nancy. Also, have your mom bring pictures of dresses or styles of dresses she would like to try on.

Re: Mother's Dress
If you don't mind traveling to Brooklyn there are two very nice stores.
1. Doris Fashions (Got my gown for my son's 2007 wedding there). 18th Ave & 68th Street. They are a bridal store and have bridal gowns, bridesmaid gowns, MOB, MOG etc. It is a small store but they have tons of dresses. Ask for Maria.
2. Valentina's Bridal - New Utrecht Ave at about 76th Street. Beautiful store with everything anyone in you bridal party would need.
Good luck.

Re: Mother's Dress
if she doesn't want to try a major dept. store like Macys, Lord & Taylor or Bloomingdales, RK Bridal in NYC has a TON of dresses! and I agree with OP's don't just try on MOB dresses - try on anything you might like, even BM dresses

Re: Mother's Dress
mine got hers at paradise bridal in patchogue. for my brother's wedding she got it at the wedding plaza in floral park.
not sure if your mom is plus sized, but my friends mom just got her dress at queen of hearts (i think it's in merrick). she said they were very helpful and they were going to remake part of her mom's dress because she is in a wheelchair and needed the bottom cut differently (or something - i dont remember exactly what she said)

Re: Mother's Dress
My mom had trouble, too, and I felt really bad for her at a certain point. She just ordered hers at Fantasia in Rocky Point. Also had very nice gowns and helpful, patient staff (my poor mom had to deal w/ impatient young staff & a mob of prom dress shopping teens at so many places!) at Village Bridal in Babylon, Bridal Reflections Massapequa, and Metamorphosis in St. James. Good luck!
