Mothers name first??

Mothers name first??

On my engegement invitations, we worded them 'an engagement party given by moms name and dads name'
my parents are not legally divorced but have not lived together for almost 13 years, my father is now upset about the wording
I always thought it was proper to list the mothers name first

Is it???

i don't know when they are separated but it's usually the guys name when they are married right? maybe that's suppose to be the same thing then?

it is right to do that cause they are the parents that give birth to you and they are still your parents no matter what.
