Help, I need suggestions for contemporary mother/son songs. Nothing too sappy though. He didn't even want to do a dance, but his mom does, but doesn't know what song to pick. Everything I listen to is so sappy and that's not his style at all. Any ideas, something light and upbeat.

How about For Ever Young by Rod Stewart or anyone else who has redone it. That is what my mom and I danced to (father passed) b/c she loves him and that song she has been singing to my sister and I since we were born.

I danced with my older son to Close to You by the Carpenters and with my younger to The Man You've Become (I forgot the name of the singer). They are both very nice songs. I used to sing Close to you to Michael when he was a baby because he has blonde hair and blue eyes and the song just fit him.

we're using 'My Wish' for the Mother/Son Dance. We also didn't want anything sappy or TOO meaningful (it's not that kind of relationship). So i feel like this one is perfect. If you haven't heard it before, give it a shot and see what you think.

What a Wonderful World/Somewhere over the Rainbow (the version from 50 First Dates). That is what DH used.

I actually REALLY love this song!! The lyrics are really beautiful!
FH and his Mom are dancing to 'I Hope You Dance.' Its been a song close to her heart since he was a little boy and she has no clue we picked it. She thinks its going to be Mama by Boys 2 Men lol.

DH danced to this with his mother. It was a great choice because it wasn't too sappy and yet it is happy just like the above poster said.

As someone else posted, the song from 50 First Dates - Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What A Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole. It's such a nice happy light version of the songs.
I recommended it to FH for his dance with his mom so he used it, and now he listens to the song everyday cause he liked it so much.
