Movie Rentals this weekend

Suzanne-don't mean to take over the wonderful job you do of giving us weekly/weekend updates of good/bad movies to watch---but if I don't pass this information along I would be a bad person lol

We rented 'ABOUT A BOY' with Hugh Grant for a rainy Saturday night---IT WAS HORRIBLE. I WATCHED the first half an hour and ejected it from my DVD player--it was so boring I didn't even skip to the end to how it ends! It had zero plot and the character development was RIDICULOUSLY BORING! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

Disclaimer: My sincerest apologies to anyone who liked this movie---

we rented One hour photo: what a waste, the entire movie was spent watching Robin WIlliams make copies of photos and stalk and make photos and that was it. No mystery, no killing, nothing, it was not even scary I do not know why they make it look as if it was. I give it 2 thumbs down

The other 2 good movies we got was Sweet Home Alabama and The sum of all fears. Worth the $5

Shamma, what did you think of The Sum of All Fears. We watched it a few months ago and we did not like it. I watched the whole thing but FI fell asleep during it.

We watched City By The Sea and Insomia. CBTS was ok-good movie but moved a little too slow. I really enjoyed Insomia.

I rented Sweet Home Alabama. It was cute, but not as good as I thought it would be. Anyone else see this?

We rented Blood Work w/ Clint Eastwood -- it was a decent rental. It kept our attention, had some nice twists to it, and was a movie we actually BOTH enjoyed. (trust me - it doesn't happen often!)
'2 thumbs up'

Re: Movie Rentals this weekend

Here's my Sweet Home Alabama story...I went to the video store and they were all out of DVD's. They had one copy of the video left, so I figured what the hell, I'll dust off the VCR and watch it. Plus it was my job to rent it for girls night at my place on Saturday. What happens? We go to put the movie in and it didn't play. After 6 girls examined the tape and the VCR we realized that there was no tape. The **** thing was broken. I was so ****ed.

Wait till I go to Hollywood video tomorrow.

I saw sweet home alabama this weekend as well! I actually really enjoyed it! I also rented Unfaithful upon recommendations of board members and I was left with a range of emotions:

I saw Sweet Home Alabama this week. It wasn't as good as I expected, but it was still cute. I also rented About A Boy and I fell asleep about 20 minutes into it so that's all I saw. From the little I saw, it wasn't too good. Maybe I missed the better parts

Re: Movie Rentals this weekend

My BM and I rented About a Boy and Sweet Home Alabama.
I thought Sweet Home Alabama was OK, although I did not really like the character Reese Witherspoon played. I think the problem I had with it was that both of the guys were really sweet. I was looking for a more 'Legally Blonde' type scenario, where one of the guys is clearly a jerk and the other is nice. JMO.

I liked About a Boy. My BM fell asleep. I thought Hugh Grant looked REALLY good in that movie although I am usually not a fan of him.

We rented Sweet Home Alabama a couple of weeks ago--it definetely was cute and worth while watching but it was not as good as I thought--good twist though--@ least I stayed awake!! LOL

NYlisa, we fell asleep watching The sum of all fears at first then we took it out and put in sweet home alabama. I think the movie was good but I would not recommend you to run out and rent it. I think it was just like 2 kids saying who will give in first.

I actually liked About a Boy, but I can see what you're saying. I didn't at first and FH really wanted to turn it off. We kept it in and I found the end to be beautiful and emotional and moving. But I am a ****er for those kinda movies. Even FH conceded afterward that the movie was O K, but OMG he wanted it off so badly! LOL!

We also saw Sweet Home Alabama and liked it ok, I just couldn't really relate to her very well! We loved Big Fat Greek Wedding! We also saw Trapped (with Kevin Bacon and Charlise Theiron) - it was stressful, but also OK, good entertainment for an evening in (for him - I had a hard time dealing with the stress LOL!)
