At this point, I think it would be pretty tough to go search for a place, make an offer, and go back for the closing before your big day - just over a month away.

If you have the time you could take a weekend and start looking, and get the paperwork together so you can get quick mortgage approval.

I don't know if VA is at all like NY when it comes to closing dates, but it seems like a lot of people (myself included) have had closing dates pushed off weeks or months, and you wouldn't want to find that a closing date was delayed until 2 days before or after your wedding. No need to add to the stress.

I'd also suggest that if it's at all possible you would want to do as much painting, fixing, renovating as possible before moving your furniture in - it's so much easier when the room is empty!

I agree with Karen and also wanted to add that buying a home is extremely stressful at times. Closing dates change with no notice, mortgage applications can be time consuming having to dig up all your financial information, and just taking the time to make sure you are making the right decision.

You are closing in pretty quickly on your big day and as it gets closer you may get a little stressed and excited! The last thing you need at this time is to think about locking into rates and getting a new home inspected. IMO it will just be too much. Focus on your wedding and when that is over you will have something else to look forward to...your first major journey together as a married couple..buying you first home.
