moving CH time?

moving CH time?

so, we booked the church for 4PM - it is not a full mass, just a ceremony, so that will prob end like 430, I'm guessing? Then receiving line - idk maybe 445, 450? Pix outside the church for a bit then the RH is about a 20 min drive, so by then its like 530/540. CH is at 7PM and we'd like to go to the whole CH. Do you think I should move the CH to 7.30 or keep the 7PM time? Also, the wedding is on a Friday - which affects guests travel with traffic/work and whatnot....thoughts?

I think you have plenty of time. Honestly just tell your photographer that you will be attending the CH and he must be done.

I don't think you should move the CH time. I'm sure a lot of people will leave work early so I don't think you have to worry about them not getting there on time for the reception. I also think that you will have enough time for pics.

it depends - I am in the same boat. Are you going anywhere for pictures in between church and ch? or jsut your RH? you shoudl have plenty of time if you jstu go to your RH.
I have a 7:30 CH and am debating on church @ 4 or 4:30... same distance as yours from the sounds of it. but with Friday traffic etc... I wasn't sure either. We are going somewhere for pictures though... so I have to take into account loading and unloading everyone from the limos and travel time too for that etc..
I am curious to see everyone's responses

Are you going somehwere else to take pics or is it at the RH?

Esp if the pics are at the RH, I think you're fine

thanks girls for your input, I think we're only doing pix at the RH bc at that point (in dec) its going to be dark anyways, so even if we did go somewhere else, it would have to be somewhere that has a nice inside and I don't even know where that would be...
we met with 2 photogs and asked them both this question and one said move it, the other said it was enough time, so idk

In the worst case scenario that you get to the hall at 6pm, you still have an hour.

Do you think you can talk to your hall about your concerns and either get th CH extended so it;s 90 minutes, or have them give yurguest hospitality (signature cokctail, champagne, etc) in the lobby for the first 30 minutes?

yea, I think I can talk to the hall and see...I wouldn't really imagine it being a problem...when I booked, they were saying that its a lot easier to move a party later, not as easy to make it earlier
maybe I'll just email my BM to see what she says, i just hate feeling rushed, but then I didn't want the gap to be too large for our guests

I wouldn't worry, cause even though you and your FH want to go to the whole CH, you may not want to be the first ones there. So you can buy yourselves an extra ten minutes just giving your guests a chance to go in and start mingling.
