DH and I are moving from LI to NYC -- does anyone have a moving company to recommend? We met with one company today that quoted us $1400 to move our 1 bedroom apartment (we have a lot of furniture though) to NYC, using 4 movers for $125 an hour and disassembling and reassembling things like our bed and my desk. Not sure if that's a good price though

i had a bad experience with UHAUL so I would NOT recommend them
I've used them for a Queens to Queens move and a Queens to LI move. Friends have used them in the city and in the suburbs.
They were super professional and very quick. Not sure if this is the norm but they finished almost 2 hours earlier than they thought they would (they really work fast!)!

We used Tufano Moving Company and they were great and fast It was $900 to move our whole house

My brother used Flat rate movers from LI to PA and had a great experience. we also just recommended them to someone else and they loved them! They do a great job and it's a flat rate! Here's their website:
We used A & J (Mineola) and they were great. Very professional, careful with our things, and accomodating the whole time. They have a clean record on BBB too.

We used Move One to move from Bayside to Manhattan and had a good experience with them. Do yourself a favor and do NOT use Uhaul for anything - I have had such horrendous experiences with them that I've made it my side gig to put them out of business.

We just moved three days ago from three locations into one. They were on time, fast and UNDER the estimated budget I was quoted on the phone. Tip these guys well. They work their ARSES off!
