FH and I are in med school living in a rented house together. We've been living together since before we got engaged and I def recommend it b/c it taught us A LOT about each other...

Re: MOVING In?
We're moving in after the wedding. We've been together for almost 5 years; if we've waited this long, we can wait a little longer. Yes, it will add stress right around the time of the wedding, but I don't care...I've always felt this way, and thankfully FH does as well. Everyone I know who moved in together prior to getting married always said 'it feel like we're already married' before they were, and I don't want that. I want to feel like I'm married when I AM married.

Re: MOVING In?
We lived together for 2 years before we got married. IMO I wouldnt marry anyone without living with them first. You find out so much about the other person that you never knew before. I have friends that have thought they might have made a mistake because some of the things they now found out really changed things.

Re: MOVING In?
FH and I had an accepted offer on a co-op before we were engaged. (He proposed 5 days before our board interview!) Whatever you guys are comfortable with is what you should do; everyone is different.

Re: MOVING In?
We have been living together for almost a year - it's soo great, feel like we're married already, lol. You should do what is best for you but I don't regret moving in with him beforehand at all. We already got used to each other's little quirks and stuff.

Re: MOVING In?
We moved in together in May, our wedding is in September. We really wanted to get our apartment ready and be settled and in peace before the big day...I have a really fast paced, stressful job and this has been the best decision for us.
To much change at once would be overwhelming. It's been great and I recommend it to anyone- 4 months before the wedding was perfect for us.

Re: MOVING In?
We moved in together last June and got engaged in September. We have been together for 4 years in April. I agree with the other girls that I wouldn't marry someone until I've lived with them. Its important to know that you CAN deal with that person 24/7, sick, etc. You learn lots about each other and I highly recommend it!
I also never understand that stat that couples that live together before they marry have a higher divorce rate. Why would that be?

Re: MOVING In?
We're moving in together after we're married. I am a bit of a traditionalist. Plus, we can't afford to live somewhere right now!

Re: MOVING In?
I agree FH and I have been together for 6 and a half yrs and we decided to wait until we are married to move in. It will amrk the end of one era and the beginning of a new one. But to each his own.

Re: MOVING In?
Honestly and this is just my opinion, but I would never marry someone who I had not lived with previously. Once you move in together you find out so much more about eachother that you never knew and the first few months can be a struggle.
I understand that some people choose to wait due to tradition or financial reasons, but if you have the opportunity, I would live with your FH beforehand.

Re: MOVING In?
I guess this doesn't apply to me because FH and I already live together for about 3 years now :-P

Re: MOVING In?
We're not living together yet. We plan on getting an apartment the month of our wedding and moving in together after the honeymoon. We're not doing it to 'cause we're traditional people, but we wanted something to look forward to and not feel like we're married when we weren't.

It totally makes a difference. I understand the traditionalist POV, but at the same time, people are creatures of habit, and if you are of totally different habits, things may not run so smoothly.

Re: MOVING In?
We are waiting until after the wedding. The main reason for this is that it is our opinion that if we already live together (other then a piece of paper) what will really change after the wedding. I am comfortable in this choice bc I knew FH for over 10 years before we were even dating. We know pretty much everything there is to know about one another, we spend a ton of time together and have been away with each other on long trips (pre and post dating)...to stop my rambling lol You and your FH need to do what is best for the two of you. I think it is a personal choice and there is no right thing to do for all couples. Good Luck
