For those of you who moved into your DH's or FH's place (as opposed to getting a whole new place for the both of you) how much of your stuff did you throw away? How much did you keep? Is streamlining the key?

Re: Moving On Up...
um, I think the question is how muchof HIS stuff did you throw out!
he move din with me this summer. In january, right after we got engaged, we watched a Clean Swepmarathon onTLC & threw out a buc ho fstuff. Mostly I needed to get rid of skinny clothes, to make room for his.
he did more of the purging b/c he had a lifetime of crap at his parents house. I had streamlined whenI moved out 5 years ago.
A few months after he moved in we had to move to a new place & that's when the real purging began, but mostly becaues we had to maek room for weddign presents.

I'm still doing battle with his packrat-ness. He's thrown out a lot and there's a still a lot more to toss. Our problem is books... and space, but mostly books.

That's Jean's problem too. I hate books-- I blame it on my job.
Jean used to work in a bookstore & took full advantage of his empolyee discount. He did a job of purging. He has 3 categories- 1- stuff to sell/toss, 2- stuff he wants to save but doesn't fit on his bookcase, 3- stuff for the bookcase. the book case & its contents are moving in with us when his father's Jeep is fixed.
The stuff that doesn't fit his mother is keeping in the attic for now. I don't even know where we are going to put the 1 bookcase he has.
