after my august wedding, my FI and i are moving to NJ...i am starting to feel a little concerned with changing my residency AND my name all at once...it seems like there is going to be a lot of running around and paperwork involved. can i do both together or should i take care of one then the other???

In my opinion, one trip to the DMV is better than two!! The trick is going to be going to one of the DMVs that lets you do everything at once.
I moved from LI to NJ a couple years ago and found out the hard way that there are some DMVs that only let you do the paperwork and you have to go to another one for the eye test and another one for the written test (which they have done away with).
That should be the only office you would have to go to twice, the SS office would be your first stop and then the DMV - you have 90 days I think to get your license changed.

Why have to go through the entire process twice? It just makes the most sense.
