Moving right along with wedding prep.

Moving right along with wedding prep.

Debi had a chat with the wedding coordinator, Faith, at the Marriott Courtyard, in Farmingdale, and I anticipate things going more smoothly.
Faith fixed a snafu that Deb was unaware of, that of extra nights being booked, which hadn't been;
Let's just say it would have resulted in Debi and Fred sleeping in separate rooms on their wedding night!! Not good!!! Faith also alerted Deb to the fact that cards were to have been sent out, to include with STD's. Deb didn't know about them.
But it's being addressed now. And, Faith said she would send the long awaited website link, to arrive yesterday. Faith has also agreed to send the new menu/prices, for a rehearsal dinner room, at the hotel. So, it's all good Mary

Hi Mary, yes Debi needs to get those card which will inform all your guests that you have a block of rooms set aside for them while they are in NY for the wedding. Nina sent them out with her STD's too. She had so many people requesting rooms that they added more to the original number booked without asking her so she didn't need to be stressed with that. It is a wonderful service to provide for your guests.

Just back from supper at Ruby Tuesdays and a Bridal Show. There were several rooms of vendors, at the Eden Resort. Deb has her local photographer choice narrowed down. I suggested they might want to wear a Christmas look for the engagement pics for the newspaper announcements, and put it in the papers at Christmas time, and Deb thought of that too!! Boy did we sample a lot of cakes/candy!!! We also had choc. covered strawberries. We drank some interesting punch. The recipe is as follows:

1 packet of unsweetened blue Kool-Aid
1 (10oz.) can frozen Bacardi pina colada mix, thawed
3/4 cup sugar, to taste
2 qts. cold water, to taste
1 (2 liter) bottle of 7-UP or Sprite, to taste
Combine Kool-Aid, sugar, and pina colada mix, in a punch bowl. Stir until sugar dissolves. Add two qts. of cold water, and stir. Add the lemon-lime soda, immediately, before serving.

Since everyone's tastes are different, I'll let you all decide if you like it; Deb thought the color of the punch was the color of her Bridesmaid's gowns!!!
Debi got lots of info on tuxes, for Fred to look at.She was pleased to see her 'colors' were available, and I think some of the tux vendors are also available in LI. My two favorite vendors were Tastefully Simple and Pampered Chef. One vendor had a display for a beach themed wedding, right up Debi's alley!! I really liked some tips from the show, from Hamilton Events, Inc.
www.hamiltoneventsinc.com, such as having a caricature or silhouette artist draw the guests! Might be pricey. Anyone have an artist in the friends/family circle? While I really enjoyed the vendors/samples, the fashion show, including Bride, Bridesmaid, Mother gowns, from two vendors, including Alfred Angelo, was just 'ok' because, the speaker system was not good, the models did not make sure everyone could see them, and the color palette was Autumn, whereas, we were hoping to see a variety of colors, especially me, in regard to Moms gowns.
We were treated to coffee, lemonade, and peanut butter cookies, at the fashion show. I took pics, now if I can figure out how to post them!! Toodles!! Mary

Liz,
Where did your daughter in law book the block of rooms? Close to Russo's?

Yes, they booked the rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn at JFK and the rooms and service was very, very nice. The photographer took pictures in her room, in the hall and the majority of the pics with the bridesmaids and her mom were taken in the lobby by the fireplace. You would never know that these pics were taken in a hotel lobby. It was literally 5 minutes from Russo's. I'll FM you of the charge for the rooms.

Liz
