Moving St Patty's Day to 3-15-08

FH was reading an online article last night, and showed me this morning. Because St Patty's is on a Monday next year, it's during Holy week. So it was moved to Saturday March 15, so yes, we're getting married on St Patty's Day.....

Just did a little more investigating. Apparently it's just the move is just for the official religous aspects of the holiday. Secular observance, i.e. parades and parties and commercial recognition will remain it's original date of the 17th. So, unless you religously observe St. Patty's day, all is the same.

Yea, Monday isn't a holy day, but it is the beginning of Holy Week. Catholics should not be celebrating a Saint during this time, rather reflect and remember what sacrifices Jeses made for us.

Sorry if I got too religious for some people, I know it's impolite to talk about politics and religion

oh good i thought they moved it forever... i was going to say! heehe i feel better then. Yea i am a jerk to have my wedding on palm sunday (3.16.08) but that is also why we moved it to a ceremony at 4:30 this way for the church people can get their jesus and then come to our unholy wedding IoI

I don't think it has happened a lot. Because Easter moves from date to date (as well as april and march), Holy Week and St. Patrick's Day almost never line up. It was done in 1940--moved to April 3, but Irish clergymen are requesting it stays as close to March 17 as possible.
