A company wide email just went out from our CEO that we'll be moving locations from Midtown to Jersey City. They're only keeping 1200 employees in headquarters. My heart is racing a mile a minute. I really don't feel I can add another 25 minutes to my commute, but now is not the time to look for another job. They said the move will be complete by the end of 3rd Quarter 2008. This absolutely SUUUCKS!
Our VP just scheduled a mandatory meeting for 3:30. Maybe she has some miraculous information that we're part of the lucky 1200.

Re: Moving to Jersey City
No my job is safe, but our entire department is moving to jersey city. It's just that FH and I are looking to move to Whitestone, which is a pain in itself to get to the city, now I have to add to that commute.

I'm sure it'll work out - just think your job is safe so you'll wait it out and after the wedding you can look for something new

Where in Jersey City are you? We're going to Newport Center. For the time being I was thinking to just walk from the LIRR to 33rd Street and just take the Path from there. At least it's one less train

yeah you can do that too but from 34th street you have to take 2 path trains, you get off at pavonia and take another path train.

oh my FH used to work in New Port Center. its not that bad - as someone else said - just not a lot to eat so bring your lunch. i think thats just one stop on the path from WTC and 5 stops i think to new port. you'll be ok - i know it feels like 'here's another thing' but count your blessings! let us know how it goes

I just looked it up, and our new office is at the Pavonia stop, so I guess I just need to take one Path train. Where in Jersey City are you?

Re: Moving to Jersey City
i almost had to move to JC (job). My boss got a new positon working in JC. He told i could still be based in NY. i go there once a week. the path isn't so bad. i do agree it extra 20 minutes is a pain. unfortunately alot of companies are moving out of NY.
