LOL I actually asked someone who was a widow this. She said she usually gets Ms., so thats what I did

I'm pretty sure both are technically correct. I always write Ms. But my mother ALWAYS writes Mrs bc she thinks it is disrespectful to write Ms for a woman whose spouse is deceased and had no control over her husbands death. Which is different than a divorce which is voluntary - hence Ms.
