Do you guys think i am being selfish for being a little bit upset about this situation? I have been dating my FH for a long time (10 years), and we were planning on getting married before we finally got engaged. I was saying I wanted to get married in Fall of 2003 for about 5 months before getting engaged. We got engaged and I picked the date October 2003. Then a guy friend who got engaged 4 days before me, picked a date one week before me. Them getting married before me is not a big deal, even though it kinda wipes people out for bachlorette parties the week before and some of my friends who will have to travel for my wedding, the bachlorette party and his wedding will probably miss some of the things. Then another friend who doesn't even have her ring yet, but its on it's way, has said she wants to get married in September 2003. The thing is, all of my friends are going to be going to all 3 weddings and I am kinda secretly hoping that the other two poeple can't book a reception site. I feel guilty for being a bit annoyed about this but then other times i feel justified in being annoyed. The main problem is for my friends though, I fell like they are going to be broke because of these weddings. Please give me some advice!

I don't get it.. you are engaged and you engaged and you have no ring and your friends, who aren't engaged, have dates planned out?!?

Re: Multiple weddings
Maybe you should pick another date. The other couple picked first. My FH's best friend got engaged before us (even though we were together longer... thats another issue lol) and they picked Nov this year. I've always wanted a fall wedding, but now i can't have one cuz we don't want to stress all our friends out with the money. So we picked spring of 04. Someone should change their date.... probably your other friend that doesn't have a ring.

Re: Multiple weddings
i dont think you should worry until your other friend is actually engaged...as for the guy friend, theres not much you can do about it...im sure your real friends will be happy to be at your wedding

Re: Multiple weddings
I picked the date first after checking with my guy friend who was engaged, and they are procrastinating doing everything.

Re: Multiple weddings
in all honesty, don't worry about the one who hasn't even gotten engaged yet.. personally, IMO, planning your wedding, before getting engaged is like setting yourself up to be jinxed..
plan your wedding and just be happy about it.. it'll be beautiful!

Re: Multiple weddings
I really don't think you should worry yourself. We have three weddings already on our plate to attend this year and we are going to attend all three because its our friends and we will not miss any of them for the world.

Re: Multiple weddings
I wouldn't worry about this at all. When all my friends were getting married, we attended about 13 weddings in 12 months. All of the same people were at most of the weddings and we all had the best time at each. For us going to a wedding was no more expensive then going to the bars for the weekend and at least now we had good food to eat and could dress up : ). Enjoy your wedding plans and all your friends weddings!!!

Re: Multiple weddings
What can you do? When you get to a certain age, everyone gets married.. I'm getting married 1/31. My best friend is getting married 3/8... her shower is 1/25 (the week before). she asked me if I 'minded' her getting married- I wasn't going to say 'yes' - that would just be obnoxious IMO.

Re: Multiple weddings
One of our GM is getting married in Nov 04 and my FH is his best man. He told us the other night that including ours (but not theirs) they will be attending 7 weddings in 04 beginning with ours. I think he said something like 1 a month. Just plan it and enjoy.

Re: Multiple weddings
Now she's engaged, so am I allowed to worry now? JK. Thanks for the advice, I will try to not even let it bother me. Letting things get to me, is one of those things I was supposed to work on this year.
