i booked a DJ with live elements. percussionist and saxophone and i have an italian singer for the cocktail hour.
Alot of people are telling me that i should have booked a band...b/c its much classier.
A band is not my style...personally.
I like to hear the ACTUAL song and the lights that i am having would fit better with a DJ.
What are your thoughts?

Re: Music!
totally on the DJ bandwagon with added performances. We are going to be getting a steel drummer for the CH - very excited about that!

Goooossssshhhhhh Jessie - get out of my brain LOL jk
but yea - what she said lol...i'm on team DJ... Bands are nice counting on the type of music you want. For example - I am not sure a band could really rock out to Bad Romance by Ms. lady Gaga - but they will f'n jam to Livin on a Prayer like whoa...
We have the steel drummer for the CH too - to mix it up a bit... DJ vs. live music!

Re: Music!
if I could afford a band, I'd prob go that route, but since its not in the budget, looks like I'm getting a DJ! I think there are pro's and con's to each and if you & ur FH want a DJ, that's all that matters!

Re: Music!
I'm actually not a fan of bands at a wedding.
I am having a DJ, no live elements - but if you want the live elements that really does add something on.

You'd be surprised re: your Lady Gaga comment. This is pretty muchw hat I thought and I was team DJ as well until I saw a few good wedding bands... and they can totally do some of the dance stuff and rock stuff that you'd never consider 'Wedding bandy' justice.
Unfrotunately, not in my budget... so the decision was kinda made for me

Team DJ!!!
WOOT WOOT!!
Sorry, had to do it!
I just booked Tommy Tunes this weekend and I'm sooo happy I did.
I've heard people say a band is classier, but I agree with everyone else. I'd rather hear the song than have a band play it.
Plus I went to a wedding last year and they had a band and no one danced because they didn't play/ know a lot of music. So a DJ was a no brainer!
I'm also having a Sinatra singer during the meal and possibly the cocktail hour.

Def Team Band!! There is just something about having life musicians at the reception..I think it adds to the elegance. I also absolutely LOVE my band and they are amazing!

Re: Music!
Team DJ! I do like bands, but I lean more towards the DJ for the same reason you had said - its the actual song. but I do want a steel drummer at CH. We are pricing DJs out now, and am hoping it fits into our budget.. so far, its not looking good. I want zap shots too - so its basically one or the other from the looks of it.
I do agree that live elements do add a lot to the music though. I have heard DJ's with percussionists at showcases, and it sounds great!

Re: Music!
I wish i could afford a band , i never thought i would say that but the last 2 showcases that i went to the bands were both awesome. having live elements with the DJ is the best of both worlds though!

I am a DJ girl. I like hearing the actual artist perform the song. Plus DJs can be really fun.
