Re: Music at St Kilians in Farmingdale?
I believe there is the organist and soloist which you have to pay $150 for the both of them. You might want to call the church because when we went for precana they were saying that if you wanted a different soloist you would still have to pay their soloist anyway. It might be the same for the organist too. Best thing is to call them and ask.

I am pretty sure you have to pay the $150 no matter what you do.

I thought it was 300 for the church- 75 for the organist and 75 for the singer. That is what it said on the card they gave me.

Well, I got married there this past September and the music Paul has is great. It is contempory new music and great! There is no way that you will be able to play the CD. It states in the book that you get when you pick your date no secular music. We couldn't even do 'Grow old with me' and that has 'God' in it. The old pastor would let you but the one now is very tradfitional and follows the diosese rules. So, sorry but there is no way they will do it.
I would suggest calling Paul, he is great and asking him when you can meet up to here his music. I went with about 4 other couples.
Plus, the Organ in there sounds awesome, so playing a CD would be really wierd in that church soundwise.
We only did about 10 pew bows on each side

Also, you are supposed to pay no matter what. We were going to use our own singer, my old 6th grade teacher but because the women who sings at weddings that is her main source of income and she would drop anything that day for your wedding and has it planned already to sing that day, you are still to pay her. Think about it, for as long as you have had that date set she has made sure she would be free, how close is your date? How unfair would it be to her if you suddenlly at the last minute was like.. nah, I don't need you. Personally if that was your income you would be upset as well. (I hope I explained that correctly)
You can ask for her to be there no matter what though, even if you don't need her.. just in case since you are paying for her.
For our july date we didn't need her, but that got messed up.. and in Sept we did and she was amazing!
So, no regrets here

SHE CAN!! She was great!
The songs they offer were really special and nice, not like normal mass songs.
