My FH and I are stymied! We are debating using a 'spinning DJ' like Scratch Events or DJ Johnny Stuart or hiring a band. Our wedding theme is 'traditional with a twist' so we thought a Manhattan club DJ would be fun! But, others are starting to say a band is classier. Thoughts? Band recommendations?
THANKS!

Re: Music bands
i think it is a personal choice- and sometimes the decision is made by money because a band is usually more expensive. i am using vision by franklin wayne (they have 4 different bands)- they were amazing! a lot of bands have free showcases so you can hear the bands and see if they fit your theme

Re: Music bands
I had the same dilemma. I went with the band Vision (Franklin Wayne) because they played a bunch of contemporary music and were constantly updating their songlist. They have showcases every month listed on the showcase page of this site. I believe they can also play cd tracks.
I would also recommend the DJ/band options if you want a clubby feel. They offer DJ's with live instruments like drums as well as lights and plasmas.

Love franklin wayne bands... timepiece is another FW band and is definitely one of my favorites. classy, yet they are completely high energy.

Check out bravura in woodbury. You just need one 15 minute appointment at their studio and you will be completely sold. Their energy, talent, and professionalism is INSANE..
They are a dj/band mix.. its unreal what they do .. their singer should have a record.

Also using BRavura. Amazing. Perfect mix of DJ and live music and keeping me in budget.
If I'd had money to blow I would have hired Paris on the spot the first time I heard them. They are SO underrated on here, they're freakin awesome.

Tony's my MC, and we got the jazz trio for CH and Paul as our live singer on keys during the reception, he'll mostly perform during low points, like during courses. I also got some lighting, but nothing spectacular, very minimal.
