Re: Music Do's and Dont's
It's more genres for me... like I don't want any Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony, NSYNC or any of that boy band type stuff played. Also none of the electric slide or macarena. I want mainly 70's music, good 70's music... no 'celebration' or 'i will survive'.... just stuff like Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind & Fire... good music to dance to!!

Re: Music Do's and Dont's
hehe 'celebration' is on my do not play list too So are all the 'line dance' type stuff... maybe just electric slide.. dunno yet no 'last dance' we're going to have Frank SInatras 'last dance' played no 'thats what friends are for' don't like disco music... we'll have modern dance music no 'we are family'
don't laugh...many people have already...but this is the list I gave my dj...I was quite demanding...but the music at the wedding was just what I wanted...and many people commented how great the music was...that all age groups could dance all the time...
and remember my music tastes are probably different from yours...but I told the dj...remember that we are in our late 20's and most of the guests are that age and older...

Re: Music Do's and Dont's
I have to steal (some of) your lists yabbobaby!! Except for country... i want some! i'm a country fan, and so are some friends and family. NO AC/DC!!!! we have to have Billy joel and 90's music
Also WANT- I want a lot of 80's stuff... depeche mode, duran duran abba reggae!! woohoo! also some 90's stuff like counting crows 'rain king', paul westerburg 'waiting for somebody' for our friend (we were at a hofstra bar and we felt so old since we were the only ones who knew the words), REM... i'm an alternative girl so we gotta have stuff like that.
don't get me wrong...i love Billy Joel..but I thought long and hard of all his different songs...and didn't think any really fit into the wedding music...
I don't know why this isn't on the list...but I know the dj played it...'Stuck in the Middle' Steelers Wheel...thats the song that reminds me of college!!

Re: Music Do's and Dont's
Be careful with denying guests the right to hear a song. My dad was/is a club date musician and he remembers seeing little old Italian ladies pulling money out of the envelope at the end of the night because they weren't entirely happy with the wedding (they won' t seal it until the end)
I agree with some of the do not play stuff, but if 10 people request the same song that you said no to, you should reconsider. Remember: You want your guests leaving happy!

Re: Music Do's and Dont's
I dont want any line dance crap. My DJ and band will be switching off..so my DJ is only playing realistically for a few hours..I am jst give him an exact list..request are fine as long as its NOT a line dance song. Thats where I draw the line. But I know my guests and they wouldnt request that anyhow!!

Re: Music Do's and Dont's
Don't do what my band did, they thought they were being cute and getting people's attention, and played 'Last Dance' as the first dance song of the night. IT WAS RETARDED.
