Re: music during cocktail hour?

We are having a pianist that is part of our band. Flowerfield also could have had any music pumped into the atrium.

Re: music during cocktail hour?

Not sure how you could miss/not notice a 3 piece band unless the place was that enormous and there were like 600 people there. IMO you can easily get away with having the DJ music especially if this is an area you want to 'save money' on so to speak. And nobody will even notice or care that there's no live music. However, for a relatively inexpensive price tag you can get a live musician(s) that people will notice and it will definitely be a nicer more elegant touch than having a DJ play music through speakers. It's just a judgement call, your preferance and what look/feel you're going for.

Re: music during cocktail hour?

I think that if you have live music, it's definitely noticeable. If you have the DJ playing something, it gets people in the mood to party without them really realizing why (like they won't really notice exactly what's playing) and if you have no music, they probably won't really notice, but it won't set the mood as well as with music. Make any sense?

Re: music during cocktail hour?

We hired a piano player....but thats because my guests would probably notice the huge piano in the middle of the CH room and no one playing it!

Good Luck!

Re: music during cocktail hour?

We are having Gene, the Frank Sinatra singer from Tommys Tunes sing at our cocktail hour and I think that people will notice. It is the type of thing that if it isn't there, people won't miss it, but if you have music, it will probably be noticed.

Re: music during cocktail hour?

I mentioned on an old post about the sax player at the CH at the Inn....this wedding they also had the Frank Sinatra singer during the wedding though. He sings very well and is very talented. Got everyone on the dance floor including my FH and I.
'the Summer wind ...'.....singing
