Music for the ceremony...

Music for the ceremony...

Now that our ceremony is in a church, we have to use the organist and singer instead of the DJ. I'm really stupid as to what music they play during the ceremony? It's a Catholic Ceremony. Are there only a few that they can play on an organ, or do you get to choose the music? I'm clueless so any advice would be helpful. Thanks again!

You will get a list at Pre-Cana

Most Churches have an organist and singer. I hired a harpist for mine. When you go to pre-cana you get a list of songs and readings that you can use. Just call the Church and they can send you one since most likely you will take pre-cana out of town.

so don't count on it. The church will probably give you a list, but keep in mind you can incorporate any songs you want. Weddings are much more flexible than they use to be.
Continued success to all...

When you book your date with your church, the priest or rectory staff member is supposed to supply you with a booklet or official guidelines for weddings ceremonies at that particular church. Usually, the guidelines include any limitations the photographers must abide by during the cermony (not camera use on the alter, no aisle shots during vows, etc), agreements for the limos (that they won't serve alcohol prior to the ceremony), and contact information for the organist/singer that the church has on staff. They will work with you and suggest some music selections.

Otherwise, there are plenty of wedding CD's in music stores that offer a wide selection of traditional tunes.

I has been my experience that if you hire outside music professionals, you have to find our own ceremony music. And, you should not assume that your church will allow contempory music to be used during the ceremony - you should ask to be sure, so there are no last minute surprises or disappointments. Good luck!
