Music for the ceremony and cocktail hour

I was wondering if any of you had hired a harpist, organist, pianist or any other type of music for the ceremony and cocktail hour. My FI doesnt want the DJ to do it, but I want to stay on budget any ideas would be really aprreciated.

i booked a string trio (flute, cello and violin actually) from sterling music. it was $600 for an hour, $200 per musician. that was the cheapest that i found. obviously a string quartet is more expensive and has a more 'full' sound, but you can achieve the same results with a trio and save some money. i looked into a harpist and i was given a quote of $600, for one person.

maybe you can ask your DJ...sometimes they can recommend someone. I know a DJ company that I was thinking of using gave us prices to have someone play the piano at cocktail hour...

We are using pianists for ceremony, reception, and cocktail hour. Sticking with one music theme was easiest...

I am using the church organist and singer for the ceremony and I also hired trumpters. Then for the cocktail hour my band will be providing a sax and keyboard duo.

I am using Jim Lowe, Pianist for my ceremony and cocktail hour. He is charging me $200. He is great, I met with him personally at his home and he played for us, he was awesome! He will also send you demo tapes if you want to hear hime before you meet. All my info is at home, if you are interested, FM me and I will get you the info tonight.
