Music is giving me one big headache - HELP

I am so upset, I don't know what to do.
I am searching for a DJ right now, and I get more and more confused. There are so many options out there, but it seems almost no one out there does what I need.
We are having a very multicultural wedding. I am Russian and Israeli, and FH is French, Israeli and American. I want to have all 4 music origins at the wedding. All the DJ's, xpt Bravura but they are from the looks of it out of our price range, say that I need to give them a list of artists/songs that I like and they will make sure to get that music. Ummm excuse me???? What the h e l l am I paying for??? I might as well download music, put it on my IPod and have my very outgoing cousin MC it.
Now on top of that, FH refuses to have a DJ, he wants a band... I have no idea if we can even afford one! So does anyone have any idea what a small band goes for these days? Please FM quotes or their details.
I am so frustrated! Now I have anxieties that I will never have music at the wedding, and it's gonna be the most boring event of the century!

My band sings in English, Spanish, French, Hebrew, Russian. But they charge a lot. If you want more info FM me.

I don't think it is that uncommon for a DJ to ask for a list of songs so they can make sure they can get them for your wedding. I know that our DJ will not have our wedding song or a bunch of other things we must have played at the wedding, so we will just give him that list ahead of time, he will get them, and then he will play them! I don't think it's anything to be that upset over.

Song list I have no problem with. That's perfectly understandable. But requesting for me to pretty much to compile the entire play list is a bit too much IMO

For the majority of DJ's if they are being asked for specific types of music then it's normally for them to ask you the artists and song titles that you would like.
Many clients who are looking for real specifics bring in cd's of their own to have the dj use the day of.
