How soon after you booked the reception venue did you book the music, photographer and the officiants? My FH thinks you can wait a few months but I didn't think that was the case.
Where do you even begin finding them if you don't have any recommendations or connections? It's weird to just randomly pick them......

we booked our officiant the same week we booked our RH.. music and photo i booked about a month later. i pretty much used all the recommendations from this site.. and everyone we met we loved

i did it a few months after...you just have to start doing alot of research, thats what i did...looked on this site alot at reviews, looked at photographers, dj's sites, went to bridal showcases to see theeir work in person

we booked as soon as e found someone we liked, and it takes time, do research on here and meet with them, honestly, were getting married on Columbus day Monday and we looked at vendors more then a year in advance that we wanted, and they were booked already! So I'd say when you find who you like, book them.. but I also just booked my band 2 months ago so it all depends who you want, the longer you wait the more limited your choice may be, that kinda helped me with the band, I only looked at one and fell in love, some of the vendors I had a lot of time to look into I made myself crazy with who said this about this one and who said this about that one.. I'd say when you meet the right vendor and get a price your happy with book them.. this was for me the most stressful thing.

Besides our officiant, we booked everything right away. . .but I'm a teacher so I had alot of time off and we are getting married 8/8/08 so it's a popular date. god luck though!

I booked my hall in Feb and then booked my photo/video in March/April then I booked my music in May/June. The florist was the first vendor booked right after I booked my hall

yeah thats a good point, i booked things a few months after but for one our photographer wasn't taking appointments for 08 yet or i would've done it sooner and when we booked it was about a year and a half before the wedding

Try to book eveything as soon as you can, just to make sure you get your first choice and also to get this done and out of the way ! Also helps you develop your budget further.
Since you mentioned that you don't ahve recommendations or connections, read up on these boards, especially the Bride's Review. That will give you a good idea. None of my vendors are LIW vendors, but I chose them based on recommendations and for thos e I did not have recomendations, how well we got along in our first meetings.

I am learning book soon cause they start to raise their prices and you can lock into 07 prices. It is time consuming but, worth to save the money and get your date! I am an 09ner and they are booking! Don't want to make you nervous, just want to make sure you get what you want.

We got engaged August 2006, wedding October 2007. We booked our officiant first (September '06), then the hall (October). Obviously, we had a very specific date that wasn't workable, and had to limit our hall selections based on that. Photog & florist in February '07, DJ in March '07.

I booked my hall a few weeks ago and I am hoping to book music and photog. by the end of September just to be sure I get the people I want. (have a bunch of ideas but have not narrowed it down yet)

we booked our RH in Feb. Then we did ALOT of research of vendors by word of mouth of family/friends, reviewing this website, using potential vendors for our e-party and going to showcases.
That said, we just booked our last major vendor last night.
