Music Poll!!

Just wanted to know what most people go for and why. I think I am going to do a DJ with a little salsa on the side!!

We did a Jazz trio (for CH) and then DJ, MC, vocalist, sax, and drummer for the Reception. It was so much fun! I would not have done it any other way!

I just didnt consider a band. I guess because I never had one or have seen one, I didn't want to experiment with one for the first time at my wedding. I knew I had a good DJ

That sounds very cool. After all IMO it is all about the food and the music, everything else is not as important.

Been to weddings with bands and ones with DJs... we really wanted an awesome band! We found HEart and Soul who was able to sing so many different types of music, they were so diverse and so much fun! the dance floor was packed all night.
Whether you go with a band or a dj , check out as many as possible! You can have a bad band or a bad DJ and it can really mess with the vibe of the wedding. IMO music is the most important aspect to a wedding being fun!

For a band: I recommend Heart and Soul and Daybreak's Night
For a DJ: I recommend Long ISland Sound

I personally prefer DJ's.... I find I prefer the original artists performing a song...

that said, a band is also WAY OVER our budget
thank god I have cheap taste!

We're getting a DJ- we wanted the songs to sound just like we know them rather than have a band's version.

I voted for Band...and that what we are having on our wedding. I'm a big fan of saxophone, trumpet, double base and acoustic guitars.

We chose a band because we need Portuguese music lol and lots of it.. This band is Portuguese and has been around for a long time. They also do some djing on the side so we can get some american music in there too.

BTW i think that salsa would sound amazing live!!

I'm having a DJ...I couldn't imagine hearing a band try their own rendition of my favorite songs. Bands can get expensive too.

We figured out a great way to do both-

instruments for ceremony, band for cocktail hour, full band for klezmer/simcha dancing, then dj for rest of the time.

I would've booked a DJ but FH really wanted a band. The band we chose was phenomenal at their showcase and alot of people have heard good things about them. I just didn't want to spend SO much money on them but this was not up for debate in FH's mind
