Music Question - Sorry Last Try I Promise

Hi Everyone,

I'm sorry you've probably seen me post a couple of times on this topic but I just wanted to try once more and then I'll stop with this topic...promise!

Has anyone used or heard reviews about 'More than Music', which is a DJ company? They are a division of Hank Lane.

I was quoted a pretty high price from them compared to a lot of the DJs that are often mentioned on the board. More than Music prides themselves on 'professionalism and class.'

FH and I are looking for a DJ who is not super interactive...i.e. interaction only if the party isn't getting going, but we really don't want lighting (wedding is daytime with lots of windows), no hand outs, and not much talking from the DJ, only when necessary.

Everyone is telling me the music is one of the most important parts of the wedding and I don't want to screw this up but I've been undecided for months and need to pull the trigger.

Basically another well known DJ on the board quoted me $400+ below More than Music.

I'm just trying to find out if anyone has researched More than Music, knows anyone that used them or thinks that they are more professional than other DJs (can you not just tell other DJs you don't want a lot of interaction and they'll listen?)

Sorry I'm just panicking now because this is the first of many decisions I still haven't made! I don't think I'm gonna get through this planning!!

Thanks all for putting up with me! I promise I will reciprocate with advice once I have actually done something!

Re: Music Question - Sorry Last Try I Promise

When my husband and I were looking into dj's, we contacted More than Music, and I was NOT impressed at all. They were VERY pricey, and extremely pushy. I know that obviously most vendors are going to be pushy, but they were obnoxiously pushy.
We were also looking for a non-intrusive and classy dj - we wanted someone who would get the crowd involved if necessary, not some 20 year old idiot that would harrass our guests! We used Mark from Energy Entertainment (he's the owner) as our MC and he was great. He's fun and upbeat, but he also 'gets' that the guests are not there to listen to him talk for 6 hours.

In the end, just make sure that you are completely happy with the company you booked with. Music really is a huge part f the evening, and you should have complete confidence in the people you're using! Good luck!

I used Castle entertainment. They were a little expensive but they did a great job. I gave them a list of songs about 2 weeks before we got married. They played those and also took requests. Everything went smoothly and everyone is still talking about them. They were a lot of fun and not pushy. If you are interested FM me.

I used FM entertainment- They were a great price, chepaest of all DJ's and they were excellent.

We used Frank, the owner, and no MC. I did not want line dances, handouts, lights etc. JUst music. I didnt want to listen to a DJ talk- He was fabulous.

He does have one small thing of maybe 4 lights that are attached to the DJ booth, but in broad daylight like my wedding was, you barley noticed them.

He only talked when it was time to announce things, like everyone gather around for the bride to dance with her father, etc. I would highly reccomend him.

FM if you have any questions!

I don't know anything about More than Music but I do know that Hank Lane is a reputable company if that helps at all.

I loved my DJ - VJ Entertainment (vendor on here). He was great and I was very adamant about having an MC who wasn't annoying and they were fantastic. They were very reasonably priced as well. I would highly recommend them.

I may replied in one of your earlier messages. If so, I apologize for repeating myself.

We used Spin Around Sound and hired the owner, Tom White. Tom's very flexible and we wanted a lower-key wedding as well. We enjoyed his work and he provided the right balance of direction and unobtrusiveness. (If you wanted something more high energy, he could do that too--hence my earlier comment on flexibility.)

We also spoke with Music by Michael, who, in DH and my opinions, is more staunchly low key. We enjoyed meeting him as well. MBM could also be a possibility for you.

Good luck!
