Re: Must Take Photos

We didn't actually give our photographer the list I had typed up because I had heard from several people that it was a total insult to them. What's better is to give the list to your MOH or DOC to make sure the people you want in the photographs are in them together. You don't want to miss having that photo with your grandmother just the two of you! Or if you have special people or want table shots, those are things you can tell your photographer, but he/she isn't going to know who everyone is to know what 'take picture of cousins' means. You or someone you trust has to be responsible for assuring that those get taken.

Don't forget that most photographers are artists and you have likely chosen someone based on their ability. You don't have to show them a bride in a window picture and tell him 'make sure I have this shot' but you can orally mention some of those likes to them.

I made sure to tell people at the RD that I wanted photos of all of them and to make sure they're outspoken about getting those shots taken! It worked out great, and I'm very pleased with how the photos from our big day came out.

I'm sure you'll figure it out! There are definitely some lists floating around (a lot of them specified tons of church shots, so they weren't applicable to us since we were married at the RH) -- I'm sure someone will bump one for you if you can't find it in a search. Good luck & congrats on your wedding being so soon!

Thanks for your advice...I am not going to give my photographer a list of shots like 'bride and groom in park' but I just wrote down a few like make sure to take one with the bride and her grandmother. I know that the photographer is a professional...but they dont always know who is very important. Maybe I should rephrase my question to 'Was there a 'Must Take' photo for you and what was it?'

Re: Must Take Photos

I plan on just writing down family pairings for the photographer...ex:

bride and groom
b w/b's parents
g w/g's parents
b&g w/b's parents
b&g w/g's parents
b and BMs
b and MOH
b and each individual BM
g and GMs
g and BestM
g and each individual GM

etc etc etc etc....HTH!

Re: Must Take Photos

I asked my photog about that before the wedding and he said to give the responsibility to someone who knows the people there -- like my MOH or my DOC (who met everyone important the day before at the RD). Since the photographer didn't know who my cousins were, he couldn't be required to remember to make sure we had a picture with them. But my DOC had a whole list she made and when we were doing formal shots in the morning, we made sure to do all sorts of combos.

Maybe you and your mom can sit down with your guest list and make a list that way.

The only thing I was upset we missed was table shots of all the tables. My photographer doesn't usually take any table shots, but I had asked them to. They weren't all that diligent about it, though. That or it's because everyone was up dancing (or eating) so it wasn't possible.

That is what I'm doing. I would just suggest making them as specific as possible. I'd rather have pictures of me with every BM and never use them than miss some and be sad about it later.
