MWR - illegal house rental ??

Hello ladies -

Apparently in the town of Brookhaven you (the owner) need to obtain a permit before you rent out a house. This is something FMIL did not do. She has been reported to the town and also tried to evict the tenants who instead of 5 people have 8 people and a dog in the house. Anyone have any experience with this ?

you need a permit in every town to have a legal rental whether it's one or two family! my friend had a similar prob...they had a legal rental in brooklyn, and when they went to do some repairs on the apt there was 2 families living in a 2 brdm! they had them evicted!
