My 10/13/02 Wedding w/ Pics!
Well, I am back and MARRIED! First of all, it was raining on that Sunday and I won't say I was not upset about that. Being that I had planned on fall outside pics AND our ceremony was supposed to be outdoors. I would re-do that part in a heartbeat but I know I can't, NONETHELESS it was a great day.
My dress & the girls dresses-Bridal Suite of Centereach...not the best place I would recommend for the whole bridal gown process. No doubt they were nice there and bottom line all of our dresses looked great. I felt like everyone who works there, did just that, they didn't KNOW how things should fit. One of my BM's thought her dress fit perfectly and the girl who worked there said yes it was great, she walks into the seamstress and she says it is too tight and takes 2 inches out! Yes, bottom line it wound up fitting but I expected them to know a little more than they did. They are always busy, maybe too busy, thus, the lack of true attention brides & bridal parties should receive in my honest opinion.
Flowers-Burton's...I dealt with John initially and I really liked him. When I went back in I met with Mike and he was a little too pushy for me...I felt rushed and I wound up having to call back and double check things. In the end the flowers were beautiful and lasted the entire day. They even threw in a extra arrangement that we wound up using on our table of all our flowers. Reasonably priced and the flowers were talked about the entire night!
Tuxs-Men's Warehouse, by Smithhaven Mall...I know there have been negative posts about them but Amy was GREAT! All of the tuxs were ready early, they were so concerned how everything fit, extremely nice and helpful, and really inexpensive. The don't have a ton of choices in the vests but we found something we liked and I would totally recommend this particular Men's Warehouse.
Hair-Tapestry Salon in Centereach...Michelle normally does my hair so I totally trust her and she did not let any one of us down. All of our hair held, even in the humidity and dampness. Suzanne did our makeup and we all looked great!
Rehearsal Dinner-Mario's in Setauket...great food, reasonable prices. We had a room in the back, pretty private and was great.
Limos-M&V...BMW X5, nice looking limo, we only had it for a pick up and a drop off but they were VERY early (always good) and very nice. All in all, any dealings we had with M&V were always good (we also used them for our b-parties).
Ceremony-Father Bob Allmen...my friend recommended him since he did her ceremony and I just loved him from the start. He did a short and sweet ceremony at the reception site that everyone loved including us.
Reception-Smithtown Landing Country Club...there aren't a lot of people who know this place when I tell them, maybe the best kept secret but a beautiful place on a golf course. Everything went smoothly, the food was great, everyone was happy especially us. We kept this wedding on a budget and this was the place to do it with, any of you brides looking for something reasonable priced...go at least check them out. Kathy and Ginny are like your mothers, so helpful and nice and never over bearing and pushy.
DJ-Sensational Sounds...the house DJ for Smithtown Landing, they were great! We had Chris and Mike as our DJs and Chris was so great asking me if it was OK to do this or that, very accomodating to my Dad who got up and did not 1 but 2 speeches, LOL...and played most of the music I asked for. The dance floor was packed most of the night!
Photog-Park Ave. Studio...Tracey was really nice and tried really hard to at least get me some pics outside, which we got a few. I will know more once I see my proofs.
All in all it was a great day, I was not nervous other than the rain. I found out I was not a procrastinator with this wedding and I think this helped a ton, I got a lot done early...when people tell you have time, do things early anyway, this helped me out in everyway from not being nervous and being able to deal rationally with little details that didn't work out in the end. It is also very important to have a supportive bridal party, don't ask people if you don't want them to be a part of the day and just because you have to. You want to look back and be happy with the choices you made with your friends standing by your side.
I will now add some digital pics which aren't the greatest but will do...
