I just had to tell you about my wedding on October 6th .. hope it will help you all with your planning ...
All I can say is 'what a wonderful and unbelievable day!'
Our ceremony and reception was at the Fox Hollow. We are still getting calls from people saying that 'it was the best wedding that they have ever been to' .. yes we did upgrade the cocktail hour with a fresh fish boat, but the food was AMAZING. There was so much of it! The service was astounding and people raved about the service and the way they were treated.
Florist - Pedestals - Mineola... all I can say is FANTASTIC! My bouquet is still looking brand new after almost 3 weeks. They did a great job and were there with the flowers and centerpieces earlier than expected in time for pictures. People were amazed with the centerpieces.
Music - The Mystic - 'themysticmusic.com' - in a word ... INCREDIBLE. I had been watching this band at local bars for years and they had started doing weddings. Anything from Barry White to KC and the Sunshine Band .. just amazing ... people are still talking about them.
Photo/Video - Proline Studios - GREAT. The photographer was fantastic and the video guy .. well, you never knew he was there. Got all the shots we wanted and then some. Just fantastic!
Limos- we used Royalty - showed up 30 mins ahead of time with a fully stocked limo as expected. Great driver and even upgraded up to a stretch Rolls on the way home... nothing but good things to say about them.
It was just an incredible incredible night. I have to admit I was a bit depressed the following day to see my gown all dirty and everything was 'over' but looking forward to my new life.
We went to Aruba for 10 days and had a blast. A bit hot with a constant breeze, but beautiful.
Good luck to all upcoming brides. Alll I can say is enjoy the day/night ... it surely flys by.
Enjoy and good luck!

I was wondering if you could go in to detail about Fox Hollow? My reception is there on July 4, 2002...so any helpful hints would be great.
Also planning on going to Aruba...may I ask about how much the trip was and where you stayed and anything else helpful??
Thanks!!

For Nancy ...
Nancy,
As far as tips on the Fox Hollow, I would say just sit back and enjoy your day! I can''t say that there is anything to be aware of as everything was truly amazing. Not one complaint about the ceremony, cocktail hour or reception. It was truly phenomenal!
As for Aruba, be prepared to spend a bit of money .. especially on food while you are there. My parents gave us a week timeshare at the Marriott so at least we saved on some hotel costs, but laying out by the pool costed us $40 per day for lunch (2 burgers and 2 drinks) and dinner everynight ran us at least $75 or so, which doesn''t include drinks.
Depending upon what you feel like eating, they do have McDonalds, Taco Bell, Wendy''s and Pizza Hut there too. (we did Pizza Hut one night ;)
The weather was beautiful everyday with a constant breeze and was about 85 or so. Just watch because the breeze hides the fact that you are really roasting in the sun, so just bring sunblock if you burn.
I would suggest renting a jeep to explore the island, just be careful and ask the rental place where not to go as the terrain gets a bit scarey in places.
I hope this helps .. if you have any more questions, feel free to fire away!

For Planning! ...
My colors for the centerpieces were burgundys and creams since my tablecloths were burgundy and my napkins were ivory.
We choose the 3 pillar candle centerpiece, all different heights, with a wreath of flowers around it ... mostly roses.
Funny thing is, based on some weddings we have gone to, everyone had the really tall centerpieces with the candles running along the stem .. you know the ones that are a few feet off the table?
I was looking at those, but the last 5 weddings I went to had them, so we went for something different. I think thats why people liked them so much.
Good luck!

For Marnles ...
We looked at a couple of different florists and we choose Pedestals .. however when you go to a florist they can work with you and create something that fits what you want to spend.
For example, my centerpieces were $70 per table, but my mom wanted them 'fuller' so they added roses to them and brought the price up a little. If you wanted to spend less, I am sure they would just reduce the amount of a certain flower or add more of another type. Pedestals was good but quite honestly I can't say their prices were much better at all than anywhere else we looked.
As for Proline, the same thing really applies to them. For example, they have 'packages' to choose from, however we didn't need some of what they offered. My husbands parents are both deceased so we didn't need a second parents album, so they deducted it. My parents also wanted portraits instead of an album, so we changed that as well. By the time we were done we had our own customized package and the price was different.
With any vendor I would suggest that you tell them what you want to spend and let them tell you what you can get for that price. I never worked with a vendor that had a 'set' price ... they were always willing to move at least a little.
Good luck!

For LisaT
Lisa,
We choose the package that quite honestly I think was their cheapest, which didn't include any of the 'fancy stuff' ... but we did get an extra copy added to the package.
I get it in another 2 weeks, can't wait to see everything I missed!

Thanks for the reply!! What room did you have at Fox Hollow? Our cocktail hour is in the Briar (restaurant) and our reception is in the Wintergarden.
As for Aruba. . . we are going with an all-inclusive at the Allegro. I am pretty excited as I JUST booked it yesterday! :)! I don't think we are old enough to rent a jeep ( I think I read you have to be 25 and we are 22-23.) We did hear though that we could rent a scooter, which I think would be pretty fun as well. Did you do anything exciting? Like snorkle, view the Atlantic, or go to S America? Just curious...
Thanks for the help!

Nancy,
Our reception was in the Winter Garden Pavillion. It was beautiful. We had our ceremony in one of the rooms, the cocktail hour in one right next to it, and then ended in the WG.
As for Aruba, hmmm ... I don't remember seeing anyone on scooters at all (doesn't mean they don't have them, we just never saw them ;) Just be careful though ... as I mentioned some of the places you want to go are a bit rocky.
We went to the 'Natural Bridge' and Baby Beach for snorkeling. Other than that, we drove around the entire island and looked around, probably in places we shouldn't have been ;)
I am sure you will have a great time regardless how much you do. We had all these great plans to do 'everything' but when we got there relaxing in the sun at the pool or the beach won.
If you have any more questions let me know. Have a great time!
PS. You might want to check on the age for the rentals ... from what I saw they might not have the same age restrictions .. it's worth a shot! (the rental places you will see right when you come out of the airport in Aruba .. there is a line of them .. maybe Hertz or one like that might have an age restriction, but we used 'Aruba' rental, and they seemed pretty laid back)
Also, the Allegro is a beautiful hotel from what I saw .. you will enjoy it!

I do have another question for you...when did you pick the menu choices? Also, do your guests have to pick when they RSVP or do they choose at the reception?
I could probably think of so many questions to ask you !! :)! lol Hope you don't mind.

Your centerpieces sound beautiful! Where are you buying the candles for your centerpieces?
Thanks!

Nancy,
The Fox Hollow will set up an appt for you to go in, maybe 1 month or so before to pick your menu.
Your guests do not need to RSVP with their meal choice as they can do it at the reception.
Don't worry about anything relating to the FH ... everything was perfect (and quite honestly I gave them minimal directions!)
