I've been in my apt w/FH for 2 & 1/2 years....come home the other day to a Notice of Violation... Illegal Use. All tenants are to 'evacuate'! Nice...4 months before our wedding.

From what our friend at the real estate attorney said he has to give us 60 days. He's giving the people upstairs & downstairs less than 30!!! We thankfully live on the first floor so we have a little more time, but not much more...he's putting the house on the market.
They're cracking down big time in Nassau County. The neighbors read the papers and it doesn't take much for them to want to rat you out.

Franklin Square. It's funny because just the other day I was talking to my brother saying I might want to leave this neighborhood because it's been so 'sketchy' in the news lately....actually that night I was talking to him some kid got stabbed and died... I guess this was God's way of moving us along...

Oh my gosh...sorry about this! Yeah, they are cracking down..it's a darn shame about these stupid kids getting themselves into trouble. I must say, there has been a spotlight on Franklin Square lately - but it's just stupid neighborhood kids acting like they are on the Sopranos.. (arghh) LOL...I'd still like to think that FS is a good area..I think it's everywhere...could have maybe always been here but maybe I was just too young to know about it in the last 20 years ???

I know! What is happening?!?!?! Within the past 6mths it's been like a bad movie!!! 4 murders! I've only lived here for the past 6 years, but ALWAYS felt so safe... These past 6 months it's been rediculous!!! Murder here murder there...ugh...weird stuff too. BUT I of course still love it here and still have great friends and family (prior landlords ) and wouldn't want to be too far away from them.

i too live in an illegal apt. it is too expensive to live on long island. i agree the cost of living is driving young people off the island. i will be applying to grad schools in NC this fall so that after our wedding we can move outta here and make a good and affordable life for ourselves. ~lacey

Thank you all for your concern! Thankfully we found an apt....a LEGAL one...in our same town...same rent...HUGE in house + deck. We're only missing exclusive use of yard and driveway, but the inside definitely makes up for it! Yeah!!! Now we can get back to wedding planning sooner than later!

Thank Goodness...I'm glad everything worked out sooner rather than later...What a pain (but a deck sounds nice!!!!)...Now I'll just keep my fingers crossed that FI and I don't get BUSTED!!!!
