My appt, what do you think of this??

Hi ladies,
so I went to my new obgyn last night and he seems very nice. He gave me a prescription for folic acid and prenatals, I think they're called duet.
Are these covered under insurance and do they make you feel sick?
We decided that we will probably stay on the pill for 9 more months being that I'm starting my new job and all right now. He also said there is really no way of know ing if you will have a hard time TTC until you start trying. He also said that I am still young enough not to worry about it yet. The thing that he said that bummed me out a bit was that he thinks I will most likely have to have a c-section when I do get pregnant. I couldn't understand how he would know something like this w/o me even being pregnant, but he said after the internal, my frame is very small and my birth canal is VERY narrow! Also, I have something that I can't remeber the name of...spinal something, which is the way my pelvic bone is shaped. He said that if my baby is over 5 lbs, he wouldn't reccomend even trying a ******l birth b/c the baby could get stuck!! He said with this condition, my bones cannot contract enough to allow the baby to get all the way out! That totally freaked me out! All I can picture is me having a baby and it getting STUCK!! He said that it would put a lot of unnecessary stress on me and the baby and can cause problems. Oh well.....we'll see what happens!!

If you really don't like what he said maybe go for a second opinion. Good luck I'm sure it will work out

In all honestly I would go to another doctor or even a midwife and discuss this all. Maybe you have some pevic bone that does normally need a c-section birth but he should have explained it very clearly and offered you some more information.

I also think you should get a second opinion. He may be right, but I think you'd feel more comfortable knowing this was a FACT not an opinion.

I take Duet prenatals, and they only make me sick if I take them on an empty stomach. Otherwise, I like them a lot.

I'll throw another hand up, suggesting that you go to another doctor. The bone condition the doctor mentioned is one thing, but my OB told me for a fact that a women's size and shape has NOTHING to do with whether or not she will need to have a c-section birth.

When you are PG, your body produces a hormone called relaxin. Relaxin's job it to loosen the ligaments in your pelvis which enables your hips and other pelvic bones to spread during the delivery of the baby.

So, IMO - your new OB is not giving you a very clear picture of what your body is capable of, or what your body's specific limitations may in fact be. Go see someone else, and maybe they can help you understand better. Good luck!
