My April 27 wedding
Hello everyone...Sorry I did not write sooner- we actually just got back from our honeymoon on Wednesday and I am still recovering from jet lag:)
Anyhow, the wedding was great! I do have a few pieces of advice that I will share as I review my vendors. Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any more specific questions.
Ok, here goes
The wedding was at Temple Emanuel in Great Neck. Everything was fabulous except for the fact that we had over 270 people and the cocktail room was very crowded (it was too cold that night to open the outside are they have that they can set up extra tables and an extra bar when the weather is nice) and on the same token the service could have been better..(I have heard from people that had less people that the service was great so we probably just had too many people. Regardless, the food was great and they set everything up beautifully.
We used Spitz and Peck for our florist and I must say they did a FABULOUS job! We had high red rose centerpieces with candles and it came out GREAT. We got so many compliments on them and the pictures that we got back so far came out great! The flowers were fresh and they decorated the ceremony room perfectly. We had black bridesmaid dresses so the contrast with the red roses was striking. Me and my husband (boy that sounds weird) had white flowers so that was a nice touch!
For video and photographer we used Salzman and Ashley in Great Neck. So far we are pleased with their work (lthough we have not seen the final results yet!) Howie (our photographer) was very patient and good to work and from what I have seen from his work very talented. A word of advice: If you have any family or friends that are chronic late people lie to them about what time to be there. The picture taking part was VERY stressful for me because people were late and we did not have time to take all the pictures I wanted. On that same token, don't let yourself get stressed out. I did and it was not worth it. By the time the ceremony came around I Was happier than I have ever felt in my life (I truly was on cloud 9) but during the getting ready portion I was a stress case! Remember its your day and try not to worry about anything!
For band we used Dwight Howard Entertainment (also in Great Neck). The band name was Jhade (leader-Seta) and they were great! We got tons of compliments and they had the place rocking all nght!
Anyhow, I think that is it for the wedding part. It truly was the best night of my life and I am so excited to now be married to what I perceive is the best man in the world (isn't that a great feeling:) Everyone was so happy and the whole night was just magical! My husband and I keep talking about how it just seemed so unreal but truly a memory to last forever..On to the honeymoon.....
We decided since we were going to take a long honeymoon to go to Italy (Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Rome and Positano). We had a FABULOUS time but we do have some advice that could have made our trip more enjoyable!
Firstly, which is uncontrollable, it rained 10 out of the 15 days we were there and it was chilly. I figured by going south we would hit great weather by the end of our trip (being south mid may) but it did not really turn out that way. This is uncontrollable but it definitely put a damper on things. Nonetheless we had a blast!
Travelling-we stayed in 5 different hotels and had to schlepp around 2 huge suitcases and a hang up bag..My advice, pack less or move around less..It was a pain but we got to see evrything and had plenty of clothes to spare:)
Positano was beautiful!!! We stayed at a place called the San Pietro, situated right in the middle of the cliffs off the amalfi coast. Even though it was not beach weather,it as BEAUTIFUL and definitely the most enjoyable part of the trip!
Anyhow, overall, I could not ask for more. I know I had some complaints but the whole wedding/honeymoon was truly AMAZING for me. Good luck to everyone and thank you all for the advice you gave me during the planning..Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
