my baby
Well here is my little girl. I got instructions on how to multiple post but it involves shutterfly which always freezes me up…so be patient with me! I am a new learning mommy!
The U/S took around an hour all together. The technician was amazing. Answered lots of questions but withheld the sex from us because she felt we needed to talk alone and decide. Sweet of her to understand that we can't make any joint decisions….
During the ultrasound, my husband got to see EVERYTHING. They had the screen faced away from me, so I just had to lay there and wonder what he was ooing and aahing about. He asked a million questions and she was extremely patient, describing the chambers of the heart, the segments of the brain and so on. She continued to tell us everything looks great, measurements look great and so on. After she left, my husband chose to look through all the pictures on his own because he fancies himself a medical doctor and proceeded to determine that it was a girl. He whispered through the curtain that 'it would appear my son is missing his penis…'
The doctor came in then and reviewed with us. She turned the screen to me and let me see for myself. When I saw that baby moving in there so much I just started to cry. It was so perfect and so content. I felt so proud that my body - MY body! could have taken such good care of this little person. She went through every part of the baby's body pointing it all out, taking more pictures, and then finally said - 'do you want to know what it is'. I looked at my husband and he nodded. She scanned down to the legs and said - 'you see those little white lines?' My heart was RACING. I nodded and she looked at me and smiled. She put her fingers on the keyboard and started typing. On the screen came up an arrow and the words 'I'm A Girl'. She said 'you've got a baby girl'. I tell you I have never felt such elation in my life. I didn’t care either way I promise you …she could have said it's an alien and the pride would have been just as overwhelming. The perfect 'it' became a perfect 'her' in an instant. My husband's eyes filled with tears and he held my hand and said 'we are having a daughter mommy'. It was the most precious moment I can remember in my life. I wanted to tell you the whole story with the pictures so that we can all remember the miracle that this all is. I hope I can somehow relay it to her someday. That in that instant I became her mother. To my husband, to her…to myself. Finally. May this give hope to us 'taken by surprise mommies' - It all makes sense eventually....
I am so proud of her sweetness. Thanks for letting me share!
(I will show you a picture of the I'm a Girl part soon - but the scanner is on the blink….. (oh that three white lines is the labia by the way! I showed it to my doctor today and she said that my baby is definitely a girl...a shameless one!!!)
