My baby is so sick

I am sick with worry b/c he has been sick on and off for a while now. He's been to the pediatrician twice. First it was a cold awhile back and then we took him on Thursday and she isisted the congestion is not in his lungs. Now last night he had a 102 fever and was miserable! I mean I could do nothing to make him comfortable. For all I know he has a headache or something else he cant tell me about too b/c he was crying in misery. Motrin broke the fever and he seemed fine this morning and now he's back with the fever. He's passed out right now but I am worried sick over him, especially now with the flu being an 'epidemic'. My SIL is a nurse so she is helping me monitor him but if he gets worse, we're going to the emergency room.

Try not to worry Liz, I know this is easier said than done, but at least your SIL is a nurse to help you monitor him. Hopefully he will be 100% for Christmas

THank god you've got health care professionals in your family!

You're doing the best you can and just hang in there...keep calling the MD if you have to. I Hope he's feeling better soon

Liz have you called your pediatrician again to let him/her know that he is still sick and running a fever? Maybe the doctor should see him again just to be sure everything is okay.

Truthfully I wouldn't take him to the emergency room. Unless he is running a super high fever you are probably going to end up sitting and waiting for hours before they even look at him. I know it's really tough when they are so little and can't tell you what's wrong, and you might have better luck with Luke's regular doctor.

I really hope that Lukie feels better soon.

Wendy, you are absolutely right. Sounds like baby has the flu, and she WILL be there for at least 5 hours before he is seen. Plus sitting in the waiting room with 50 other sick kids is not beneficial either.

I hope the baby feels better soon!

No I wont bring him to the ER. I just felt panicky. His fever has been up and down all day and he's at 102.5 right now. If it's the flu, it's definitely better treated at home. That's what they're (the hospitals) are telling parents, exactly like Imagine said.

Thanks everyone. Im off to give him a bath, the poor little guy. He feel asleep on me today and while Im sorry he's sick, I enjoyed the cuddle. He's always revved up and going going going so it's a rarity these days.

Go with your motherly instinct. If you think he has something that is moving into his lungs, then insist the dr. see him again. If it is the flu only, I guess you are doing everything you can. Feel better soon Lukie!
